I think a +3 today will be fine, he's pretty high,I will unfortunately be out of the house till about his +3, but he'll get a LC snack at the +2.
I am just getting exhuasted with all this![]()

Sorry, I haven't been online all day and just saw this tag.I've never used a thundershower, but I think @Tricia Cinco(GA) & Harvey used one.
He seems to feel awkward. Still hisses at Mango, but the fit of the shirt makes to difficult to run. He does seem more relaxed when its on though. Just kind of sits still and stares at the wall.Sorry, I haven't been online all day and just saw this tag.
Yes, I have a thundershirt. I didn't feel that it really made a huge difference when I put it on Cinco or Harvey. That does look like the way it's supposed to fit. How does he like it? Does it make a difference?
I get overwhelmed and down about it too. I am single, so Samba only has me, and it is a lot of responsibility and a major lifestyle change to do this. I too was hopeful about remission but am feeling less and less hopeful the more he bounces around. Have had to cancel travel plans. My sister doesn't live within a reasonable driving distance, and I can't book a flight to go see her. Just wanted you to know that you are not alone, and it looks like you are doing a great job...you are definitely giving Mr. Gordy his best chance. Glad you treated yourself to the movie. You deserved it!I just get bummed sometimes because I really did catch this early. He had blood work done just 4 months before his diagnosis and not glucose issues then. I was hoping to have him in remission early. I know its not a race, but being alone in all of this prohibits me from having a life. I have a 10 day trip in May to Italy, but instead of being excited each day, I get more scared and worried. I can't afford a sitter, but I have no choice.
Tricia, I've been thinking about getting something like that for one of my Bengals. How difficult is it to actually get them in it (or get it on them, in the case of the Thundershirt)? The cat I need one for panics when he is restrained and does significant damage to the "restrainer", namely, ME.I believe it is supposed to make them feel safe, since most cats like enclosed spaces. Strangely enough, Harvey was calmer in his cat sack than in his thundershirt.
Lucy, are you talking about a cat sack? The first few times it was a little rough, but after a couple of weeks, Harvey basically climbed into it! The key was to fasten it around his neck first, then slide his legs in and zip it up. Even when he was resisting getting in it, once it was zipped up he totally relaxed. It was like magic.Tricia, I've been thinking about getting something like that for one of my Bengals.
Yes, the cat sack. I'm not sure could get it on my boy. If I got it fastened around his neck without his feet under control he would flay several layers of skin off me till I finally let him go, then I would have to catch him again (with him no longer trusting me) and either remove it from his neck ar try again to get his feet under control. I guess I need something for him that his feet go into first. What about the thundershirt? Was that difficult to put on? I might be able to manage that, I have gotten harnesses on him before - although not without injury! But he is so very insecure, I would like to try anything that would make him feel a little safer, especially for going to vet visits, etc.Lucy, are you talking about a cat sack? Well, you could put his feet in the sack first. I just found it easier to fasten the neck first. I could send you mine and let you test drive it. He's a compact 12 1/2 pounds, feels more like 20 lbs, lol.Well, you could put his feet in the sack first. I just found it easier to fasten the neck first. I could send you mine and let you test drive it. How big is the kitty you are wanting to use it on?
Tricia, that's incredibly generous of you to offer, but I don't want to put you to any trouble.Harvey was just under 10 lbs. I am not 100% sure his sack would fit, but if you would like to try it, I will send it to you. I only ask that you return it once you determine either that it will work out and you get your own, or that it won't work at all. I would also be willing to send you the thundershirt I have to try. I won't be needing either for some time, as when we get more cats we are getting kittens.

I had hired a sitter right after Gordy got diagnosed because I had plans to go away in November. But now that his numbers are itching closer, leaving him unmonitored worries me. =\In the end, my cat sitter did great with all the kitties (after she confirmed on this forum that I was right with his dose). Prepare well (had like 2 months supply of strips, food, lancets etc), have all your notes and instructions (should of seen my fridge it was covered!). Then get on that plane and enjoy your self (I know, there will be texts and calls to make sure all is well). Then come back and you never know, maybe Gordy will be into some nice colours for you as a reward for returning!

Absolutely do this. Ask lots of question: What is their policy if the tech that is testing gets a low number at shot time (and what do they consider low numbers)? Will they follow your instructions, or what the vet says? How often will they test? If they get a low number mid-cycle, will they feed and test? Just some questions I should have asked and didn't when I boarded my cats at the vet.I think I may ask to see where they keep the kitties.
No trouble, Lucy. Happy to do it. Not Abys next time. Siberians.Tricia, that's incredibly generous of you to offer, but I don't want to put you to any trouble.
Kittens! Makes me want some, too. I love kittens (who doesn't???)! Are you thinking of getting more Abys?

Are you sure, Tricia? I really do mean it when I say I don't want you to go to any trouble! No trouble, Lucy. Happy to do it. Not Abys next time. Siberians.
I am positive. PM me your address. I may have to do some digging, as most of the cat stuff is in storage, but I'll find them. Are you sure, Tricia? I really do mean it when I say I don't want you to go to any trouble!
I know. Minka and Kisa were Siberians. We adored them. Looking forward to the next adventure!Siberians are gorgeous!!! And they have wonderful personalities. But they definitely require grooming!
Thank you very much!I am positive. PM me your address. I may have to do some digging, as most of the cat stuff is in storage, but I'll find them.
I didn't know they were Siberians! That's wonderful, you've already got experience with them! When you get your kittens, you know we're all going to want lots of pics! I've never seen Siberian kittens, only adults; I bet they're real little fluff-balls, lol.I know. Minka and Kisa were Siberians. We adored them. Looking forward to the next adventure!
