Yesterday...

Unbelievably, Chino went 3 cycles under 300. And then he skipped the 300s and went straight to the 400s >_<. This is the 3rd cycle on 10 units after he earned his first reduction (!!!) 2 nights ago. He has been clearing bounces a lot more quickly than he used to, so I'm hoping we'll see some safe and gradual downward action tonight.

That is progress.... Those darn bounces think it happens when the body isn't use to the lower numbers and length of time in lower numbers it reacts.
Chino please lets see some lower numbers:bighug::)
That is good that he clears them sooner;) I'm not sure about Methimazole but with Levothroxine which my kitty Fritz is on it affects the BG makes it spike up then as it wears off his BG goes down. Wonder if that might be causing the jump to higher numbers?

I would expect the opposite effect, if any, since methimazole suppresses the thyroid while levothyroxine supplements the thyroid hormones. Though I didn't see much of an impact on the BG that I could attribute directly to the methimazole when he was started on it. It might've helped to decrease his insulin resistance, but I think the main factor here was finally getting him to an effective dose of Lantus.

The jump from yellow to red this morning is probably related to the BG of 47 from 3 cycles ago. He used to bounce from numbers like that right away, but he had a blue cycle yesterday morning, a yellow cycle last night, and finally got to the high numbers this morning. I wonder if that might also be r/t the high dose of Lantus that's making it more difficult for his BG to rise as quickly as it did before.

Whether on a high dose of insulin or a few drops, Neko's highest bounce point was always the start of the third cycle after the low. Which is why last night I suggested you not be alarmed by this morning's AMPS. Looks like Chino borrowed Neko's FD playbook. :p And you are also right that the depot of the higher dose could be still in play, but with that fur shot in there, maybe not.

Good to see Chino is sliding down.
