Hi,

8th cycle on increased 1.25U dose.

After the night of bouncing in Pink Ducia came up to the AMPS with BG 289. She was fed her usual breakfast of 1/4 can 6% watered and 1.25U was administered. Right after the shot she had diarrhea.

Usually at this time after food/ after shoot Ducia would do some grooming and then she would go to sleep. However, this morning she is unusually active/ aggressive, either walks back and forth, appears to be irritated, tried very viciously to rip apart her toy mouth and checks her food bowl as if still hungry (15 min after eating full breakfast!) .

I don't know what to think about it. Does it sound like an alarming behavior to anyone else? I know that aggressiveness might be symptomatic of low BG, but she is 289 at AMPS .

Diarrhea: thru the night she ate Friskies Cl. Pates LC and Soulistic Moist and Tender Chicken 8%, her former fav brand. See received about 70 ml water via e-tube and by watering her food.

If it is over watering, then can her bout of diarrhea be explained by it? The last ER vet recommended 170 (!) ml of water a day. In her past 8 years Ducia had diarrhea once or twice.

Hmmm.... I don't have any specific suggestions about what could be causing the aggressiveness, except that it is a sign that she might be having some discomfort/pain. The diarrhea at the same time suggests that she might just be a bit under the weather and feeling grumpy about it. I know that pancreatitis is on her list of suspected issues. Pancreatitis flares often include diarrhea (any vomiting?) and abdominal pain, but the cats are usually pretty lethargic, not necessarily aggressive. However, every cat is different, so I think we have to put it on the list of possible causes. I don't know about the fluids as a possible cause-- maybe someone else can speak to that.

I hope it is just a very temporary bug and she is feeling better soon! Those were some nice greens on the spreadsheet yesterday!

It sounds like she is not feeling too well. I would test her for ketones, and hopefully it's just a temporary tummy upset from the food or some other stress.

Hello Nan,

I do hope it is not pancreatitis related diarrhea but rather food mix/ water amounts. She doesn't seem to be in pain at all. I will watch/ make dynamic observations , as a human medic here at home puts it.

The Greens were good. However, if you recall our discussion yesterday, she displayed no discomfort whatsoever (nothing, nada) and I thought she still would be in her upper 100s after +3 BG 189. I didn't test between +3 and + 6 but was giving her small snacks. She didn't display any symptoms of lowering - like irritated mood I complained about in my yesterday post, and then suddenly, I found her at BG 62 at +6.

Wow! When will I "Know thy cat"?!

Since I posted at AMPS she relaxed, slept and had a snack. Perhaps, and I hope so, her body is adjusting to insulin and her "aggressiveness" is just normal cat's behavior which I long forgotten.

Thank you for the reply and thank you very much for being here for us yesterday! :)
