What do you all do if your cat doesn't want to eat at the time of his injection? Leo is such a funny eater and seems to want to eat when he feels like it and not when I need him to for the shoot. Tonight was so very frustrating. For some reason he wasn't in the mood to eat much at his scheduled dinner time but did eat a very small amount. I wasn't able to test him and he was running from me the more I tried to get him to eat. I know he could sense my frustration. I halfed the dose as he did eat a little and I was afraid to give him a full dose. Then all of a sudden 20 minutes later he decides he wants to eat but I had already given him the half dose. Why do cats do this?- it drives me crazy.

I think that's the reason right there. They just like messing with us.
You're probably right about him sensing frustration. It's okay to just walk away and take a break for yourself for a few minutes. Prozinc has a little bit of flexibility in timing, so if he needs a few minutes to decide he's in the mood to eat, that's okay, as long as you have the time in your schedule, and as long as he doesn't get too far off from the regular shot times. Hang in there. This does get easier.

I worry about that with prozinc as although smooch is hungry when I give it at 0730 am because it's to be given 12 hours apart I worry, so give her a little more food at that time as she gets her tea at 5 pm and believe me that's pushing it as she looks for it from 3pm

Hi Jackie! I'm not quite sure if I'm reading your message correctly, but it sounds like your concern is that your kitty is hungry earlier than the 12 hours? If that's correct, it's absolutely fine to feed Miss Smooch throughout the day. The only time you ought not to feed is in the two hours preceding the BG tests. Any other time during the day/night is fine. Many of us leave food out all day for our cats so they can eat when they are hungry.

see I need her to be thinner she is on D/M weight management as she was 5.6kg she seems to eat it all at one sitting but in accordance to the weight I would like her to me she gets 20 grams twice a day once she is at the weight which for me if she is within 4kg the vet would be happy.

Even if you're aiming for weight loss, you can take the total daily ration and break it up into multiple small meals. This might satisfy her more.

it's kind of difficult without buying a cat feeder as I work 13 hour shifts, my parents feed her when I am working, that's why she is fed twice a day
