Yesterday
This morning 6am she puked zofram and her breakfast. Gave her zofram, and cerenia, bupe and gabapentin. She did eat her food over night. Talked to vet, she finally called in the adequan. She had emergency surgeries so it delayed her. She wants to keep the 4.25 for the weekend, and hope maybe the pain meds will help bring bg down too. She had never sent off an IAA so she is seeing how much and what she has to do to get it done. That was surprising to me. So patience pants are on. And love and heads bumps to all. Love to you and your furbabies.

More common then you would think, my vet had never heard of the IGF-1 or IAA test. MSU was good about getting them the info they needed. I brought in the following 2 printouts which outlined the general requirements. IAA IGF-1(Acromegely test)

Phoebe is kind of on the fence, I think it isn't usually recommended until the kitty is over 5u of insulin before getting the tests done. Shipping is a large chunk of the cost, so if you do decide to have the IAA test done, it might be worth getting both done. I think my total was about $225 for blood draw, shipping and testing all done by the vet.

Hope Phoebe perks up and starts doing a better job keeping those yummy foods down.

Thank you @saltycat I just find that shocking. I heard about it before I was involved in FD. They really don't spend much time on diabetes. Thank you for the info and I have forwarded to my vet maybe make it faster if I help her along the way. I'm just wondering what they do with the cat's that are insulin resistance or don't respond in the office to insulin. Just smh. Head bumps

I can't even fathom how much I would have spent on curves at the vet's office... Jack is up to 30u and gets some R inbetween if numbers are high. At the 1-2u increases the vet had me doing, with a curve in between... whew, my head spins just thinking about not only the cost, but how long Jack would have stayed in the stratosphere. FDMB has gotten Jack into better numbers(at least most days:rolleyes:) and saved me a ton of vet visits as well as all kinds of tips on where to get good prices on supplies. I think I would have gone crazy if I was doing this journey on my own with only my vet as a guide. The community here is awesome, and my vet calls the boards my diabetes specialists:D.

It is disappointing how little training they get on diabetes As a general practitioner, there is only so much they can learn about each species and all the different diseases. Think of all the specialists there are in human health care.

Hope the tests are easy to get done and if you do get them done that they come back negative. IAA and/or acro are no fun to deal with.

Holy crap @saltycat I was just looking at his ss. Wow. My hat goes off to you. I really shouldn't be griping at all. Hugs to you and your Jack. Ty for your wishes and info :)

It's all relative, I consider myself lucky that I'm basically just dealing with FD. So many other kitties here struggling with heart, kidney or other issues on top of FD. I do call him my little drunken sailor since his numbers wander all over the place and I just do my best to keep up with him.

Hope Phoebe starts working the juice, I recall your vet had you decrease the dose. My vet was adamant that no cat needs more then 5u a day... Once she spoke with the vet at MSU about the IAA and Acro results, she changed her mind and agreed that he needs as much as he needs.
