I know this may put Phoebe back a bit, but if it doesn't work my vets way, I can show her the new way. I hope Noone thinks I do not respect or believe you guys and gals know what your talking about. I have so much respect for everyone of you and what you do every day, selflessly. I have so much to thank you for in a short amount of time. I will continue to need your support for my furbaby going forward and in the days to come. Ty ty ty :bighug::bighug::bighug::bighug:

Well, so far this is pretty interesting, anyway! There's still some depot in play here so it's too early to say what the effect of the 4.0 is going to be, but that's a lot of movement from the morning number! So, let's see what happens going forward...

Agreed-- what we all want more than anything is for Phoebe to feel better.

Question: on the spreadsheet notes, you have a plan to get some adequan and a note that you've been OK'd to give bupe 3x daily (which is, I think more frequent than you have been doing). Have either of these been put into play today? Just trying to get all the puzzle pieces on the board-- the 207 isn't dramatically lower than the mid-200's numbers you've been getting, but it's at least going in the right direction, and I'm wondering if it's because Phoebe is feeling a little better pain-wise today. Is she moving any less gingerly?

Angela - I'm sure a number of us at one point or other have followed the dose advice of our vets. I know I did at the beginning. So no worries - no judging. :bighug::bighug::bighug:

All I can suggest, is that since you are reducing the dose, make extra sure to get those ketone tests in regularly. I also wouldn't hold the dose more than three days if you see her numbers start to get worse.

Yes Nan I gave her the extra dose last night of bupe, and she had it again this am. She will have again at 3. She's definitely feeling better still gingerly, but she has purred and fought me on ear pricks :) she's hungry as usual. Looking for adequan online.

Angela, no one will blame you for following your vet's advice. I just don't understand the reasoning behind it. Did the vet say why she wanted you to reduce the dose?
She just said in her experience with glargine, when doses get in 5 units and 6 units it has a tendency to stall and stay in the higher numbers. She said she would be delighted to see her stay as close to 240 and lower. She was not comfortable with dosing her with 6 units. I do trust her intentions and she has been a vet for 25+ years. And mine for 14+. We will see what happens.

The plastic is in place last night. So far she has hit every spot without it!!:banghead: I have been helicopter helen. She just looks at me and walks off like "uh huh"

I will have to keep it for a few days, she is out til tues, so will move it up .25 if no movement by monday, and call her tues morning with my data and questions.

Thank you all for the continued support. Much love for each and every one of you. I know you love these kitties as much as we beans do. It is enlightening. My soul smiles.

Under TR, we move back to the last "good" dose when a reduction fails. But that's putting the cart before the horse. Let's see what this dose can do first.

I had been going to Neko's vet for over 20 years when she became diabetic. I like her and trust her too. But she didn't have any experience with kitties and higher doses. I was also her first client to home test, so she had no experience with what data at home looked like. She was comfortable with mid blues as a nadir. However, I wanted to keep Neko mostly under renal threshold (easier on the kidneys). 240 is likely above renal threshold so not a good place for a diabetic kitty to hang out.

Another thing your vet may not know, as it is recent research, is that one in four diabetic cats have a high dose condition.
