Happy Friday, everyone. I did a 12 hr day yesterday and only got about 4 hrs of sleep. Ugh. Today should be a very interesting day. ;) It will probably be another 12 hr day and then another long day tomorrow. Sunday I will be in Phoenix all day, visiting with my oldest son. :) The visit is much anticipated, but the drive makes for such a long day.

I'm holding Chase at his <0.1u fore now. My guess is that he will need to be increased to .25u, at some point... to kick his stubborn little pancreas into action... yeah... poke and prod at it until it screams.... alright, Alright, ALRIGHT (in Matthew McConaughey's voice). LOL. I want that pancreas to say.... Hey... I can do this on my own. LOL. I also think that food is going to play a key role... I just don't know enough about it to commit to a specific feeding plan but I'm working on it. :)

Has anyone ever had to change food/insulin type in order to get kitty's pancreas to cooperate?

:nailbiting: Chase has been weighing in at 15 lbs exactly (I use a human scale). This morning he weighs in at 14.8 pounds. Should I be concerned? Should I just feed him more and keep a close eye on him? @Marje and Gracie ... any thoughts on this? :)

What the pancreas need is R&R. Using exogenous insulin to do the work of metabolizing sugars gives the pancreas time to heal. The more time spent between 50 - 120 the better. If healing takes place and the pancreas starts to produce insulin again , best to offer continued support to ease the pancreas in the transition from disabled back to full time work.

Regarding weight, is 15 lbs a good weight for him?

Yes.... 15 lbs seems good for him. As for the pancreas healing... well, I haven't been able to keep him in healing numbers, lately. An increase will have to take place but not until next weekend when I can be around and watch him closely. :)

Like your Matthew McCongaughey's "quote" for Chase. ;):joyful::joyful:

On th weight....the difference between 15 lbs and 14.8 lbs is about 3 ounces which is more than I'd like to see him drop in a week especially if he was staying at 15 lbs. Is the MC food less calories than the Chase mix? If so, you might have to increase what he gets to make up for the lower calories.

I was not able to get on th board yesterday so I'm sorry I missed your question. The example I gave was just an example using one can so that you could extrapolate that for two cans.

Based on the info you left yesterday, you are feeding two cans a cycle and you are feeding six times.....PS, +1, +2, +3, +4, +5.5.

Does he get just a tsp serving at +4 and +5.5? If so, that leaves 26 tsps for the four feedings earlier. So what if you tried this:
PS-5 tsp
+1-7 tsp
+2-7 tsp
+3-7 tsp

You can play with those numbers if you want. But that's an example. What do you think?

Have a great day at work.

That sounds great. I will put it into force tomorrow. Look at all the yellow, Marje. I am sad about that. But still... grateful that he's safe and sound and that he allows me to care for him. He is such a beautiful presence in my my life. :) I just KNOW I can get this under control a LOT with the food. I just don't know which way to go, yet. He eats good, but if he is going to be on this drop dose, I'm thinking Chase mix (since it is a mixture of LC and MC)... maybe. I'm just not sure. :( LOL

Thanks. I hope you have a great day, too. :)

I think you are correct that the MC might be just too much for this dose. You can certainly try the Chase mix again u til you are ready to raise the dose when you can monitor. He really is such a lovely kitty with a wonderful personality.

Hey sandi just stopping by to say hi, been super busy and haven't got on the board much to speak of lately.

Sounds like you have a good plan going forward with Chase.

Give the cheeky monkey a script h from me.

He is a Romeo... THATS for sure. LOL. Marje... do you have any idea how everything might have gotten so sideways? Chase was getting to where he was in the blue and green only....and on the drop dose. I'm so worried that this set back will affect his ability to experience remission. After all... he hasn't been in the healing numbers at all. And that's got to affect him. :-(

When we took the dose up and fed MC food, we didn't prevent the drop and the depot got a bit ahead of us so we had to take the dose back down. With the lower dose of one drop, the MC is likely too much so his numbers are higher.

Since you can't adjust the dose for a week due to your schedule, I'd try feeding the lower carb foods (Chase Mix) until we can try our experiment again.

What do you think?
