Hi! Went back to work today. +11 from last night was 208 & AMPS 226.

Just got home and tested the +9 at 87. Re tested other ear and he's at 89.

Just wait and see how the next few hours go to see if it comes back up? I wonder if he was lower at the +6/7 mark this afternoon.

Thank you.

Looks like Nacho is getting over bounces really quickly now. That's great! :D That little green in there is probably some of the influence of the 1.0 unit depot. Have you thought about how low you'd be willing to shoot, if you can monitor tonight?

Here is the link to yesterday's post: http://www.felinediabetes.com/FDMB/threads/3-7-nacho-amps-101.174435/

I am not sure... I guess somewhere between 100-200 I would still be comfortable shooting if I am home to monitor. Under 130/140 would make me nervous if I was leaving for work for the day - I guess because I am not that comfortable yet! Thoughts?

I was asking specifically for tonight. One cycle at a time. I agree with your guidelines for now. Though as you can see today, even shooting higher numbers is no guarantee they won't see green later. Usually when you shoot lower numbers, the cycle is a lot flatter.

Sounds good! Oh that is good to know! I guess the goal isn't to get the huge dips like I see... I am used to a cycle looking like that. Knowing that I would probably feel more comfortable shooting a little lower if he continues to show more consistency :)

Just tested him at about the +11.5 and he is still 86 one ear and 81 in the other... wait another half hour and re test? Thank you!

Can you stall with out feeding and test in about 20 minutes? Since you are following SLGS, if Nacho comes up to 150 you could probably shoot if you are able to monitor and have plenty of test strips and MC and HC food And that said, I can't stay with you as I am on my way to bed ( been sick)

Thank you !!!! Feel better soon :) I am coming off a cold/virus

Have to be offline for about half an hour to an hour, but I will check back after that, and I can hang around all evening, so if you decide to shoot, I'll try to keep an eye on you.

Thank you!! I just did a +13 and he is only at 101 an hour after eating... with the SLGS method it says under 150 do not shoot, so I guess for now I am not going to give insulin for tonight... I can re test again in an hour or two though!

Nacho is looking great! Your doing a fabulous job with him:)
Pretty soon you will crave those green pre shots !

And to think...... when I found out he had feline diabetes I sobbed every time he walked by me for a week and looked into "re-homing him" because I was so scared of the needles and what could happen.... Then I finally got over my irrational thinking haha and I learned that this disease is totally manageable and I CAN DO IT!! :D YEAH!! Thanks to the HELP of all the great people on the feline diabetes forum

Yes you can girl! AND you ARE doing it :smuggrin:

Sorry I didn't get your tag until now - I had a meeting tonight.

with the SLGS method it says under 150 do not shoot
Actually, it says "in the beginning, do not shoot under 150". If you keep reading down the SLGS document it says "With experience, you may find that lowering these thresholds may work well for your cat. " with the suggestion not to shoot below 90. You are at the point where you are getting some good data on Nacho, and can think about lowering those thresholds if you are home to monitor and gather data about what he will do with lower preshots. It is exciting that he is responding so well and giving you the chance to try new things. :)

Ok great! I hope he does this on this weekend so I can gather some data to see and will feel more comfortable during the week

Not sure if you had already decided to skip or not, but just in case: When you stall to see if numbers are rising, you do not want to feed. You want to know he is coming up on his own and that the rise is not food influenced. Skipping was a good idea and if it takes a day or two to get back on track it is better then risking having him go too low.

Nice to see all those blues and greens the last few days!
