Looks like the rain is headed back to Southern California today but I think we will have a sunny week all week after this. I'm so tired of the rain even though we need it. I wanted to wash my car today but it's too windy and cold out and knowing my luck, it will start to rain right before I pull it back into the garage.

Ozzy is back in his cone again today with his hot spot treatment on. :(:( He spent about 4-5 hours in it yesterday (a couple hours in the afternoon and couple hours in the evening). I don't want to keep him in it all day because I'd feel awful. He is actually tolerating it well and even trying to play with Figgie while in it, so that makes me feel a little better. He is able to jump up on the bed, one of his favorite spots to take a nap and has discovered he can still lick the end of his tail. Lol. The hot spot is starting to look better and not so raw so I can tell it is starting to heal- FINALLY! I know he still licks on it when he's not in the cone but we are going to keep this routine up in the evenings during the week and then 2xs a day on the weekends. I may decide to keep him in it for a few hours longer in the evenings since we can't do it in the day. He is not able to get into the litter box too well and move around to dig his litter spot so can't keep him in it all day/night.

Hoping it is looking a lot better in the next few days. Paws crossed.

Ozzy has been in the blues and greens the last few cycles which is great! He bounced up to 385 at PS this am but it looks like he is headed to blue again sometime this afternoon. I wonder if that double dose last week jump started things. Maybe when they are bobbling, one larger dose is a good idea?? I know others will probably say NO!! Not that we are going to try that again, just saying that maybe it had some influence for these last few cycles.

Hope all the beans and kitties are having a nice Sunday. :D:D:joyful:

Have you tried a cone alternative like a little t-shirt for those times when you are at work and don't want to leave him in a cone by himself?

Not yet. I think it was Tricia who sent me a link to the cover mes. That's still a good option. I didn't buy one yet but may decide to if this doesn't resolve here soon. I honestly can't see my kitty tolerating wearing one of those but maybe he will. I don't know. I was really surprised by his tolerance to the cone this time. In the past he has not been so conforming. I'd probably melt a little to see my kitty in a onesie! Hahah!! :p:p:p:p:p

+7 107. In the blues...I can almost see green!!! Keep surfing little buddy!!

He's looking pretty miserable in his cone. I have to go in the other room or I'm going to cave and take it off. I want him in it for 1 more hour. I'll reward him with a snack when it comes off.

We have had 3 blue preshots 3 nights in a row. This is really exciting and great progress for Ozzy! We have not seen this many blue pre shots in awhile (and not very many really overall). Ya. He's had some good blue cycles for the last 5 cycles and one cycle he hit green for a bit. I am hoping he will get to green tonight since he started blue but last night he started at a lower blue and never to green.

We go back to work tomorrow and won't be able to monitor again for the am cycles. If he doesn't start seeing green again, I might consider increasing his dose a little (maybe just a fat .75U) during the week. I really want to keep this momentum going and pushing him down (safely) to the greens so he can spend more time in the healing numbers.

I really can't help but think that the double dose on the 28th is what is causing some of this improvement now. He started this trend of blues/green exactly 6 cycles after the double dose. Guess we'll know if he starts floating back up in the next few cycles.

Hi Jo :)....checking on you and Kris before bedtime. So glad Mr Ozzy is making progress. He is so blessed to have u for his Momma and ur sweet Hubby for his Dad :bighug::bighug::bighug:. Prayers and love to the Ozzy Family in rainy SoCal from So Mo where winter has decided to not show up this year:(. I miss snow:(:(:(

@Beth 73 Hi Beth- thanks for your constant blessings. They mean so much to me! How are you? How is Mr. Elmo? Was thinking about you guys today and wondering how you were.

Ozzy bounced after his PS tonight and has stayed kinda flat in the yellows for most of this cycle. If he sees blue tonight, I won't see it. Headed to bed. He was just released from his cone and got a before bed snack. His hot spot looks so much better. Its soft pink now and looks to be healing instead of raw and red and bleeding. Of course he went straight to it to lick the neopoirin off as soon as the cone was removed. :banghead: I am sure he will do a number on it tomorrow before we get home but will be treating him again tomorrow night. I did notice when he was out of the cone today he didn't lick it as much so that's a good sign.

Nighty night FDMB. Hope all the kitties surf safe tonight.

for what it is worth, my vet said that, after initial resistance, most cats accept wearing "clothes" like a t shirt quite well -
poor little guy - I"m sure wearing that cone is awful for them - glad the hot spot is improving
