Happy Caturday!! Hope all the beans and kitties are doing well and enjoying a relaxing day!
I have been MIA on the board the last few days. Hubby and I have been pretty busy with work.
Since Ozzy's second double dose on 2/28, we have kept him on the .75U. We haven't been able to monitor much if at all during the day cycles due to our work schedules, but are getting some spot checks and before bed tests in on the evening cycles. It appears for the most part that Ozzy has had some lower yellow numbers and I imagine he's gotten into the blues a few times during the day cycles and possibly on some of the evening cycles after we went to bed. It looks like he spent a good amount of time in blue yesterday and possibly even hit some greens. I was a little bummed when we woke up to a pink preshot this morning again after his nice blue cycle last night, but he surprised me again and has had a nice blue and now GREEN cycle so far today. Yay! This makes mama bean very happy for my Ozzy boy! He is currently on cycle 7 since the double dose. We will be monitoring him this weekend to continue to see how he does and determine if he needs any insulin adjustments, but I'm thinking he's doing good on this dose (unless he drops low again). I hope he doesn't bounce after seeing green today, but most likely he will because he's just a bouncy sort of guy.

Other than the above, Ozzy is spending time in his cone due to him continuing to gnaw at that hot spot on his back. It's been going on for over a month now and I'm really tired of seeing it and don't want him to get it infected. We were really hesitant to use the steroid medication the vet gave us but I did put it on him about 2-3 times now. We really need to be more consistent in trying to treat this hot spot so it will go away. I cleaned the wound with the steroid med and then slathered on a good dollop of Neosporin. He's been coned up for about an hour now. Surprisingly he's doing pretty good and not minding it too much. That is a relief, because I might be keeping him in it for several hours today, tonight, and the same tomorrow so we can be more aggressing on keeping him away from the hot spot. Oh, and he started on one his front leg, too. So we are trying to work on that one too to make sure it doesn't get too bad.
Anyone have advice on how they have dealt with or treated hot spots? This one has been going on for far too long.
