Hi to everyone !! Needing to get digestive enzymes to mix in coconut oil to use for teeth brushing . Is there a particular brand anyone uses?? Also, which ingredients should be avoided ??? Thank you for your wisdom in this area :bighug::)

I haven't heard of this either. Does Elmo have a digestive problem that you're trying to address with this, or is it just about brushing his teeth? Digestive enzymes are meant to make it all the way past the stomach and help digest in the intestines, so I don't think I'd be comfortable exposing the mouth to them.

From his spreadsheet I can see that he's got issues with constipation. You might want to look at these links from the Where Can I Find? thread:
Digestive Problems:
Constipation, Maggie11 & Ann; Feline Constipation
Hairballs/Chronic Vomiting
Probiotics in IBD (or other) cats

We've had excellent luck with our 2 cats that tend to be constipated by following the probiotic suggestions on the last link. One of my cats, McGee, is a short haired tuxedo boy who was vomiting daily and severely constipated. I thought he was having hairballs until I read the link about chronic vomiting & hairballs. I realized that I wasn't always even seeing hair in the vomit. Then I read the link on probiotics. I started McGee on a probiotic, working from a small amount up to an entire capsule once a day over the course of a couple of weeks. Then he got 1 entire capsule per day for 2 months. I tapered him down to one capsule every other day. We bought the Renew Ultimate Colon Care 80,000 cfu brand - there are others mentioned on the links above as well.

We also give him one very tiny sprinkle once a day of ground flax seed (Spectrum brand - you want a people quality flax seed). Start small and work up in amount so you're just giving the right amount. Too much will cause diarrhea.

Between those two things his constipation and the vomiting are both gone.

Many people have good success just giving plain canned pumpkin or squash for their cat's constipation. Punkin wouldn't eat it, but many seem to like it.

Very interesting thanks for sharing this info. Wonderful to hear the improvements. My cat Tinka vomits hairballs probably once or twice a month especially if she's licking a lot when having a skin allergy flare. I didnt realise probiotics could help that. Do they break down the hair? I've been wanting to get her on a good probiotic anyway as skin issues typically begin in the gut. Where do you buy yours from? Thanks again!

Thank you thank you...started Natural Moves today so will keep ur info ready as well. Homeopathic vet had suggested mixing digestive enzymes in coconut oils to make a tooth paste .... and we use pumpkin twice daily plus small warm water chaser. Glad to hear of more options !!!

Yes, where do u get them from???

Has anyone heard of Leba dental spray...uses herbs to stimulate natural tarter controlling enzymes in mouth ...

Interesting. My homeopathic vet also suggested using a small amount of coconut oil on a cloth or kitty toothbrush on my cat's teeth, but he said the kitty's own digestive enzymes would break down the coconut oil.

I will say both my cats prefer using coconut oil to CET Toothpaste...

Hi Jill !! I believe my vet said the additional enzymes were to aid the natural enzymes already present , like the enzymes in CET . Coconut oil has so many benefits ..love it !
