Second day of a 2 week cycle where Simone is back on only 1u x2 daily. Last evenings PMPS was quite high at 409. 1u was given last evening and again this AM so she will be watched closely this morning for any "danger close" levels.

AMPS=207 (11.5)
8:00 AM +2=83 - gave a little bit more to eat
8:30 AM +2 1/2 = 79 - gave a dozen or so 45% carb treats.
9:00 AM +3 = 92
9:15 AM - currently eating a little Fancy Feast
10:00 AM +4=110 - in the blue=YES
12:00 PM +6=128
6:00 PM (PMPS) = 218 (12.1)

Talked to the vet and she said the 79 (4.4) was low but still OK and that I shouldn't worry unless Simone drops to around 54 (3.0), then start trying to bring up her glucose. Also told me that if the PMPS was 12 or higher that I should give the 1u PM dose, which I did. We'll see how this evening progresses and what tomorrows pre-shot numbers are.

I would test again in 1/2 hour if you can. Are you following SLGS? If so, a reduction to .75 was just earned. That's the power of removing dry food from the diet.

Here is you yesterday's post: http://www.felinediabetes.com/FDMB/threads/2-27-simone-psbg-184-2-126-3-122-4-178.173935/
We include those links so people can go back and easily see the history.

Thanks Wendy. I picked up some syringes yesterday so at least I can adjust to the 1/2 and lower doses.

When does she eat the dry? - might be a clue.
Pretty much none at all. I just mix in about half a dozen kibble into her 1/2 can of wet.

I give Simone 5 Royal Canin Gastrointestinal treats right after her test, food (and now shot) in the AM but nothing in the PM. With doing the Carb conversion I come up with the following: I've also used the online converter at: http://fnae.org/carbcalorie.html

From the info on the RC site the analysis reads as the following:

Crude Protein 30%
Crude Fat 11%
Crude Fiber 7.3%
Moisture 8.0%

Doing the Carb conversion:
30 + 11 + 7.3 + 8.0 = 56.3

100 - 56.3 = 43.7
100 - 8.0 (moisture) = 92
43.7/92 = .475 or 47% carbs

She's slowed down to nice numbers. You can give her a tsp or two of low carb food to see if it'll help her surf these nice healing numbers.

Done. Shes eating a little bit of her Fancy Feast Chopped Grilled Feast here on the computer desk.

Do you feed multiple smaller meals throughout the day/night?
No, other then this morning she gets her AM and PM meal and that's it normally.

If she doesn't finish off what's in her mealtime dish then I pick it up and will put it down for her to nibble on at a later time, then pick it back up when she's once again had enough.

The Grilled Feast is a high carb food. Do you have any of the Pate varieties? Those are low carb. The idea of the low carb is to keep them "surfing" or hanging out in those greens. That's where the pancreas cells can rest and recover. The upper greens are safe.

As for meals, it's earier on a healing pancreas to eat several smaller meals. If Simone is a grazer, it's OK to leave food out for her, as long as you pick it up a couple of hours before shot time so her preshot number is not influenced by food.

The Chopped Grilled Feast I give her is the Pate' version Wendy. Good to know about the "grazing", thanks.

Good to know - when I started out I used some Grilled varieties as high carb options. But I don't know the Canadian line of FF as I never served it.

We can't get the "Classic" FF variety here in Canada but folks on the forum have said that the plain FF pate' version like I posted is OK.

I knew that, just chose not to feed FF. There were seperate varieties that are not pate and are grilled that are HC.
