I'm not panicking (much). I tested both ears because the 29 was a shocker :eek::eek: I gave her half a can of hc because I'm not messing with this and I know she will eat again....she is starving but otherwise is acting fine. Just have the 911 so I can have some eyes on this.

You did not shoot the insulin did you? AMPS to us means you shot, and AMBG means you did not, yet..

Another test....reading 41. This time gave her some lc with hc gravy. Don't want to send her too high! My only question is when would I shoot her. I know not now, too low. I am off work today so I am free to mess with her schedule. I know she will get a reducie, too. Yay, Snick!

Question.....Reading the tr regulation on shooting low with low preshot bg it says to shoot as soon as safe. I skipped her shot. Should I have shot when she stayed in higher numbers?

Once you know the food is no longer influencing her rise in BG numbers, like going 2 hours without food and still seeing her numbers continue to rise, and she is safe to shoot (above 50), you could give her the dose, but that would affect your shot schedule. Your new shot schedule would be 12 hours after you gave the insulin. You could work the shot schedule back by 15 minutes per cycle or 30 minutes per day, to get back to your preferred or regular shot time. My shot schedule was never that flexible, but maybe yours is.

In the past I've shot maybe an hour late, or 45 min. Was that wrong? I was under the impression as soon as you know she/he is safe to shoot to shoot. Snick usually keeps rising without her shot so I feel like I should have shot. I'm 2 hrs late, probably 45 min without any food. I could shoot, my schedule is super flexible, although I don't really like being 2 hrs off it's not a problem.

Suzi --

I believe you are correct. You can shoot as soon as it's safe. I do not recall anything about waiting 2 hours. That said, a 29 at preshot means business. I think it was fine to skip. However, whether you skip or have the flexibility to delay a shot really depends on how fast numbers may be rising (i.e., is Snickers going to bounce to the moon) and whether your schedule can accommodate delaying a shot by what could amount to a couple of hours.

Depending on what the numbers look like at PMPS, you can reduce the dose or if Snickers has bounced to the moon, you could hold the dose for one last cycle and reduce tomorrow morning. (I'd be inclined to reduce given how low Snickers dropped.)

I agree. The last time we skipped a shot (due to not being home though, not a low ps) she did not bounce as high as I thought she would. I think I will see what she can do on her own and see what tonight brings.

I only saw 20's once and that was enough. I tended to add karo/syrup for numbers below 40 to get a quicker boost. I also wouldn't shoot through the bounce, just in case there are any remnants of that depot still hanging around.

Snickers - no more of that please!

It looks like skipping is a good call. I hope Snickers doesn't go too high, but if she does she'll get back on track soon. I hope your back if doing better.

So far so good (anti-jinx). Now the pain is located in my lower left hip, which feels fine in a few positions and excruciating in others....ugh

Oh geez....we are bouncing!!
I think that was inevitable after the 29, regardless of whether you shot or not.

I'll bet you were wide awake after getting that AMBG.

Apparently she was REALLY done with that dose! Congrats on the reducie.

Snick, down out of the rafters, please. Haven't you have enough drama for one day?
