More and more into the yellows.. Can anyone tell me how long I am to hold this <0.1 dose?

Good Morning,

1st... thank you, Gil.... for taking so much time to be with us. I'm sorry to hear about your friend's loss. She's very lucky to have you.

2nd... Chases SS is filling out a lot. Can anyone tell me what their opinion of his numbers is?

Hi Sandi,
Can't stop, just checking in.
He is spending more time in blue/green, at the moment, even though he is coming Up at end of cycle. He may flatten out yet.

I'll take a closer look tonight when I get home.

Have a good day.

Oh goodness... Gil. I didn't expect you to even be on at all, today. I'm mostly just noting things here in the thread so that I can remember how the day went. I know that you're mostly the only one who looks, now, and I knew you wouldn't be around, today. I didn't mean for you to have to do any computing on Chase's SS this morning. But thank you. Let's see what the day brings.

Chasee was pushing one of his 9 lives with me this morning... waking me up over an hour before time to get up. I'm going to have to start shutting my door in the morning because I'm still a bit sleep deprived. He meows LOUD.. constantly... and gets up in my ear to do it. I mean literally.. my ear... not just in my face anymore. He makes sure he gets right up by my ear. And he acts like I'm starving him. When he has mornings like this I can always be sure that he threw up a little. He does this when he stresses out like he did this morning. It's clear, and it's just a little bit. It almost looks like drainage from allergies. He has a horrible case of thick, raised, itchy rope like lumps all around his neck. He used to suffer horribly with allergies. When he was young, I gave him allergy shots at home. He has had his share of steroids to calm this problem down, in his life, but not on any kind of regular basis. The vet in Tennessee always told me... you don't want to give steroids to cats unless you absolutely have to... because it can cause... drum rolllllll...... DIABETES! And that's the reason he got onto antigens. When we moved here in 2010, his "Iosinophilic Granuloma Comples" symptoms seemed to calm down a LOT. In over 5 years, he's gotten maybe 6 shots of steroids. But it's really bad, right now, and I don't know what to do about it. I certainly can't afford an allergy panel and antigens. I'm lucky that I've been able to treat the diabetes. But my funds are all but dried up. Anything I do from here on out will have to be in a very frugal fashion.

This is for me to remember:

Thinking about a plan for you, that might take the stress of testing for you.

How does this sound in bold type are the every day tests, the others optional or if numbers worry you, if you have time, or are just feeling curious. (this is more of a guideline, you can always mix it up a bit, the reason I'm suggesting always a +2 is that he usually seems to take his big drop by then so it should give you a good indication of how low he was getting.

+11 (if Chase happens to get you up early)
amps
+1 (if amps is under 200)
+2 (every morning)
+3 (if you have time or you feel he has dropped a lot by +2)
+11 if you are home and just feeling curious:)
pmps
+1 (if pmps is under 200)
+2 (every night)
+3 (if dropping very fast or if you feel like it)
+X (just before bed)(might be an opportunity to regularly get a test later in the cycle)

Glen does this too. He jumps on the bed at about 5:45, lays on my chest and paws my face. If I don't wake up in an acceptable amount of time he goes in and wakes up my 10 year old. Man I love that cat but a sleep in would be nice! And he's got the civvie in on it now too! He scratches my mattress just out of reach. This way I have to bolt up just to shoo him away! And the civvie likes to pretend he's spider man. He scrambles upside down under the bed and moves himself from one side to the other using his claws and the box spring!

As long as the majority of his nadirs are between 150 & 90 you hold this dose. Lantus is based on how low they go, not how high the are. Also, just a quick FYI...if you shoot late (more than 30 min) it can act like small decrease in dose. When you shoot early it can act like a little increase in dose.

For being on the itsy bitsy amount of insulin Chase is looking super good.

Thank you so much. Yeah... last night is the first time in a month and a half that I have so late with a dose. I thought I'd given it to him. :( I shot a little early this a.m. because I have to be on my work schedule timing. Hopefully this isn't too much of a set back.

Have a great day, Karen!

Well at least I know I'm not alone. LOL. :bighug:

He really likes to dip when that +2 comes around. Unfortunately, I can't be here for a +3, but I will do a +2 and give him the remainder of his food. I'm also using the timer to feed 1 frozen ice cube of Chase mix 3 times over the day. Will test again this evening and will pray that he doesn't go too low. :)

I hope you ladies have a great day!!! :cat:
