Uncle is still very lethargic and doesn't have a vigorous appetite. Thankfully he will still he eat most of the food I offer him, but isn't really hungry and I can tell he really doesn't feel good.
A couple of hours ago he went to the litter box and only left 2 very small, hard deposits. After I scooped the box I came back upstairs expecting him to follow me but he was nowhere in sight. I went back down to the basement and he had defecated twice more on the floor and was headed back towards the box. One of the deposits was vert large, like a small dog's.
I just started giving him pumpkin yesterday fearing that the air/gas that showed up during the barium swallow test might be from all the Miralax I've been giving him, so I'm trying to taper down and hopefully wean him off it altogether.
The urine culture results should be in by tomorrow and I will really appreciate any help interpreting the results of that and the blood test. I am worried about the state of his kidneys now.

Sorry to hear Uncle's still not acting like he feels very good Barbara

Sure hope there's an answer in the test results so you at least have a place to start.

Sending lots of "feel better soon" vines to Uncle!!

Thanks Chris! Maybe all that business he got to tonight will help restore his appetite and good feelings.
I hope you and China are doing great. The DCIN must be keeping you pretty busy!

Yes it is!! It's pretty much doing the same kind of thing we do here, but on a more one to one basis ....and then there are the emergencies like the DKA that's at the vet who won't release her until she's been on Lantus for awhile and her caretaker couldn't afford it, so we had to find someone in Southern California that had some to donate tonight!

But it's also very rewarding to know I'm helping such a great organization

I was following that post and was fearing the worst and hoping for the best.
If I ever get a little extra money I would like to donate! I just spent over $500 at the vet's last week, have to spend more on the urine culture and have a dental for Uncle in 3 weeks. I figure if I'm able to come up with the money to treat Uncle now, when he gets better I will feel like there's extra
Well the DCIN sure seems like a great fit for you and I can only imagine how fulfilling it is to help people and their cats especially in emergency situations.
YOU ROCK!
