SO! Big Kitty has been almost 3 days without insulin and his BG keeps creeping lower and lower on its own! This morning he was 187. He ate half a can. Now here we are 6 hours later and he's 113.
If you look at my spreadsheet you'll see what's happening!
So is this how remission starts?

When Dulce's remission started he started getting lower preshots as well as lower between shots. That necessitated reducing dose until dose was 0.
I adopted Dulce as an untreated diabetic and it only took two weeks on Lantus to go into remission.

He's doing really well but not quite there. Remember with a human meter, normal range is about 60-120. If your preshot without food is 150-200 instead of no shoot, consider giving a tiny 0.25 dose. 200-250 0.5 u. He's definitely on his way to remission it seams!

Soooooo it's official we are green today! Just tested and got 75!!!! No insulin at all in 4 days. Feeling blessed here!
Since he is no longer on insulin do I have to worry that he will drop too low?? Never seen a double digit before!!

She can't hypo if not on insulin. What great news!

That's wonderful news! That's how it was for Dusty, his numbers kept creeping down after I stopped his insulin and after 14 days of no insulin he was officially OTJ. Remember no high carb food ever because he's just in remission, keep an eye on his weight and pee amount. You can slowly cut back on BG testing after the 14 days. I went from once a day to once a week, to twice a month to once a month, and every couple of months. Keep up the good work!

I have a question..
I know that now his BG is down he will be less hungry. But he is REALLY eating alot less. So I thought OK maybe he is sick of the same old fancy feast pate. I got a couple cans of friskies pate. I gave him a small scoop and of course he inhaled it. Is friskies pate low carb like FF?
He definitely has an appetite. Back to his old ways of waking me up for food. But then he only takes a few bites..
