I really try to be positive, but sometimes I look at her looking at me and question all I am doing. I feel bad because she is not facing as many problems as some, but it's just so much poking pill pushing, prodding. I went to give her fluids like I have for almost 2 years, and she hissed at me. :*( it broke my heart. She has never reacted. She's getting harder to get bg because she fights us now to get bg. She growled and hissed at my husband last night. Broke his heart too. It's so hard. We love them so much. Sorry just doubted how much we are pushing on her. Does she want it, is it time? Is she tired of it?

How is she doing otherwise? It's sounded like she's been in a good mood a lot lately. The increased feistiness might actually mean she is feeling better and less willing to put up with poking and prodding. Or it could mean she's feeling some discomfort and is cranky-- hard to tell in isolation.

If it seems like she's feeling OK otherwise, maybe check with the vet about possibly reducing frequency for some of the treatments-- she's definitely gotten a lot of different meds lately, but some of them were in the "try anything" phase of figuring out how to deal with pancreatitis and her other issues, some of them may not need to be ongoing.

Fighting the BG tests is unusual this far in-- does she still enjoy the treats/rewards she gets afterwards? Usually that is enough to make cats put up with the brief poke willingly. Again, if this is new I would wonder about some discomfort-- do you hold her or put her in a lap or otherwise restrain her, something that might put pressure on a painful abdominal area (thinking pancreas here)?

My Squallie has always objected to the ear pokes, and will run away from them if he can, despite getting his favorite treats. He is always more feisty about it when he feels good; he can get pretty uppity about it!

Her reward for test is eating so yes she's quite happy about that. She's still hungry all the time. We lift her gingerly from the floor to the bathroom sink. Best light and easier on my back injuries. I hope it is she is feeling better, by fiestiness. She's actually if I break it down has gotten better in fact that she has played with her fav snake toy, I knew she was hurting last couple days so given her bupe. Not given her gabapentin because she wasn't eating the food with it. So maybe she is just tired from the bupe. And we have had this bed for her for 4 years she has never laid in it. She has the last 2 days. Maybe I'm the "baby" here.

My hubby thinks she is feeling better and fighting it. Because we feed her after it he says she knows she's gonna get food so she is impatient with us. But she doesn't sleep much because she wants to eat. I'm guessing because her blood is still high. Maybe just impatience because I think she should be doing better. I want it now. :/

Time to put on your patience pants! If you don't like these, we have them in any color and style you can imagine. Get used to them, you'll be wearing them a lot, lol!

I know, it's very hard to see our furbabies not feeling well or in distress, whatever the reason! I always "want it now," too, and it gets very frustrating. But as so many have reminded me since I have been here, it's a marathon, not a sprint.

I do find it harder to test Squallie when he knows a meal is waiting for him, he's a little piggy!

It's so difficult to know what to do sometimes.
Eleanor still hates the ear pokes, after 5 years! She hates the subq fluids, often even the insulin shots. I question the whole thing a lot.
Try to look at the whole picture, is she happy and interacting normally in between having this stuff done?
BTW, Eleanor gets very sedated from Bupe.

Squallie is going on two years now since diagnosis and he still hates the pokes and sometimes the needles. Fortunately, he's only had to have sub-q fluids once, at the vet's. But he is a very happy, contented cat, beyond the daily protocol of treatment; he enjoys every other aspect of his life. Of course, he has his days, just like we do, when his mood isn't the best, but that happens to all of us AND our kitties, even the ones without diabetes. As long as the good days outweigh the bad, you're still ahead of the game. :):cat:

Thank you everyone. It's what I needed to hear. Yes those pants are fine. :) sometimes the days are hard to tell if she is having better good days than bad, at least in my mind. I love her with all I have, just want her to be a happy kitty. Ty for the pep talk. I appreciate it.

Maybe she wants to chat the toaster oven :cat:. Maury's seems to pester and want more attention from me when he is feeling good. Like right now I am trying to type this and he's on my wrists lol. He used to do this alllllll the time :). Stay positive, Angela :bighug:

Lol ty yes she gets a daily convo from her best friend (toaster) my husband is British and has to have his daily toast. She gets more and more vocal everyday with her bestie. That made me laugh ty. She's very restless last couple of days and continues to want to eat at least every 2 hours. At least she is back to eating chicken pate ff. I am thankful she is eating, just keeps making me think she is starving because bg is still higher than we want. Yes I am trying to type around her as well.

Maury has been asking for more food yesterday and today but I think it's because he was used to eating more when his BG was higher so now that it's not running sky high he's hungry out of habit. Just my initial thoughts but maybe Phoebes is doing the same?

I think she's just a food hog. :) maury is beautiful on side note. Not sure if I said it before. So many pretty kitties on here.

Squallie just went through 3-4 days of eating like a little piggy - now I'm having a hard time getting him to even finish a meal.

Angela, if you haven't already seen this, I highly recommend it; it's a good read and might bring a smile to your face! :bighug:

Glad to hear she is doing better..Maybe the Gababentin (for pain?) causes her to act up? I thought it was a very benign drug but it was just ordered for me and boy, did I become dizzy 2 hours after taking it. I thought that this reaction was very unusual. You have your hands full..What a great mom!!!!!!!!!!!

Ty Fran. What we won't do for our furbabies. :) the gabapentin was given for an anti inflammatory in her gut. I used to take with the onset of migraines. It does make her a little loopy. Sorry you and your boy need it. Hope you both are doing well.
