who uses Young again dry mature for diabetics ? Does it raise your babies BG level?
I got 2 different kinds of samples, both for mature cats, and I also got a sample for their treats ( carnivore Yums. But before I give any to skittles I want to make sure that nobody has any problems with it ( food and treats ) this food will not be his main diet he'll be still getting the low carb canned food but I'll be giving him a few pieces a month to help with teeth since canned food is awful for teeth as far as keeping plaque and tartar down

I use the regular zero carb, not mature only because I have two 1 yo kittens. Otherwise I would. It doesn't spike her bg at all. The first week it gave her soft stools. (Esp if she over eats). Otherwise no problems. Non of my cats liked the treats so I gave them to my feral colony who loved them.

She gets wet food in the morning and evening, and Young Again is out 24/7 to graze on(2 bowls of it).

I have been using THIS for Squallie for about three months now, because he has dental problems that can't be addressed with a dental. Seems to be doing a pretty good job so far, I'm happy with it. And he likes the taste of it!

ETA: I have used YAZC in the past, it didn't raise Squallie's bg by an appreciable amount. None of my cats liked the treats, either.

Sherri, have you read what Dr. Lisa Pierson has to say about dry food and dental health? Here's an excerpt from her website:

"Dental Disease: Long-standing claims that cats have less dental disease when they are fed dry food versus canned food are grossly overrated, inaccurate, and are not supported by studies. This frequently stated (among veterinarians and lay people) myth continues to harm cats by perpetuating the idea that their food bowls need to be filled up with an unhealthy diet in order to keep their teeth clean.

The idea that dry food promotes dental health makes about as much sense as the idea that crunchy cookies would promote dental health in a human.

First, dry food is hard, but brittle, and merely shatters with little to no abrasive effect on the teeth. Second, a cat’s jaws and teeth are designed for shearing and tearing meat – not biting down on dry kibble. Third, many cats swallow the majority of their dry food whole.

There are many factors – known and unknown – that contribute to dental disease cats such as genetics, viruses, diet, and the fact that cats do not brush their teeth like humans do. There remain many unanswered questions concerning the fact that cats often suffer from poor dental health but one very obvious answer lies in the fact that humans feed cats a diet that does not even come close to what they would eat in their natural state."

Dr. Lisa goes on to explain what we can do to help promote dental health for our kitties. The section on dental health is worth reading before you opt for dry food. Dry food is not the solution you may have been led to believe.

I am wondering how you got your Young Again samples?

I emailed the company a few weeks ago requesting some samples but haven't heard anything back from them. I am in Ontario Canada and thought maybe it was because of that.

Does anyone know of a Canadian product that is similar to Young Again's Zero carb formulas? I haven't been able to find anything, it's so hard to find out what the carb levels are in any kibble, it is never listed on the bags.

In Canada you may have to pay shipping for the samples. Try calling them.

I emailed them. Actually I got samples twice because the 1st they didn't send me the food they make just for diabetic cats

Ok thanks.. I had considered calling but I'm not one for persistence when it comes to asking for something more than once. I think I will give it a shot tho.
When I originally emailed them they emailed me back with a survey asking specific info about my cat... Make sure that email didn't get sent to your spam folder. You can also contact them on their Facebook page.
