I'm thinking of trying Sheba pates. I don't see this brand listed on any LC lists, but several users here have recommended this brand to me. If you feed your cat this food, and have success, could you please share the flavors that you buy? Thanks!

Timmy loved the beef pate at first. Now he won't touch it, I think I wore it out. Now he is into the salmon and turkey pate. I use the perfect portions so I can mix up the flavors and keep it interesting. I am using the perfect portions because he does not like leftover food, or cold food, or leftover food that has been heated. :banghead: I just love cats and their quirky ways. :cat:

I give my other cat, who is not diabetic, and who I have also switched to wet food, the pate cans, which are cheaper and she loves all the flavors. Make sure you look closely at the front label though because the pate with gravy and the one without look so much alike. I have gotten to the register and double checked and sure enough I picked up one with gravy and had to swap it out.

Good luck and hope this helps.

Actually, according to the numbers we got from Sheba, the cuts in gravy are also low carb. I haven't tried them, but will check the label next time I get some, to see what the ingredients are. I'm guessing their 'gravy' is actually broth.

That would be so great if the ones in gravy were also low carb. The pate that I get say in natural juices and the ones that I avoid say in gravy.

When in doubt, read the label. Look for any starches such as grains, potatoes, tapioca, peas, etc., if they are within the first 4-5 ingredients it will likely be higher carb.

the main difference is the "In Gravy" all have Tapioca starch ....I know it's not perfect, but the carb calculator says 12.5% for the chicken with gravy

I looked at the labels for Sheba in gravy cuts. The sixth ingredient is tapioca starch.:( so I guess that food is out.
I picked up the budesonide, not sure how hard it will be to give him the med. They are big clear capsules and you can see the loose powder like texture in them. I'm worried they will come apart in his mouth if he doesn't swallow one right away.

Yes tapioca is a starch, but I recently called them and got the as fed numbers. We did the calculations and came up with 2 calories from carbs. Very low. As I said I have not tried them so I can't say if they are truely low but those are the numbers we received.

I gave a part of Sheba cuts to smoky so will see how it affects his BG.
