Good morning!
AMPS 160:eek: shooting an increased dose of .5u

Boomer ate all of his foods last night and there was no singing or crying at the doorway. For his +6 and +9 meals I had given him one of the new Weruva foods....I had given him a bit earlier and he really seemed to like it. I did wake up around 3:00 am, Boomer was laying at the end of the bed and when he noticed I was awake he came up asking for a scratch or two which he got and then he laid down and cuddled with me off and on for the rest of the night:bighug::cat:

I have to wonder if the new food has anything to do with his increased level this morning since he had it for +6 and+9. According to their website it was only 3.4% carbs from calories and I just verified the calculation for the food he had last night and my calculation matches their website. But is it the quantity? It's lower in calories so I gave him more of it. What I do know is that his numbers were going higher before the new food so he was getting a dosecrease anyways.

Allen seems to be feeling pretty good. He had a poop yesterday afternoon but nothing further overnight. He is liking the new foods as well but since he likes to graze all day and he's getting that dry s*** that Dr Larry recommended, I'm finding it difficult to tell how much he is actually eating in a day. And with the Weruva foods being lower in calories, I can't imagine getting enough of it into him each day.

Today on the bean's agenda.....a bit of cleaning. And yesterday I got a booking for a 3 week old to come to the studio so that is tomorrow.....so I'll have to set up the studio and get the props ready later today.

Boomer! What are you doing up there?!

I hope the dosecrease brings him back down Judy. The food issue is going to drive all of us to the crazy house.

I am happy Allen is feeling good.

I hope you have a good day.:bighug:

I take it you've been using the as fed values, remember you need to get those from the manufacturer, as the values on the tin are guaranteed analysis.

I think the increase will get him into solid green like last year and he'll start earing reductions soon. His body might need an adjustment period to the new food regardless of carb count. It's not going to be much different that what he was eating before.

Sending more poop and feel good vines for Allen!

Weruva actually has the carbs from calories calculation on their website but I verified it using the formula that Marje gave me and it matched their calculation. I never look at the guaranteed analysis amounts; they're pretty useless.

Fingers and paws crossed that the dosecrease will get him back into the lagoon where he belongs. Hang in there, Judy - we all know how frustrating this dance can be, especially if you are trying to balance multiple cats with different health issues and food preferences. :bighug:

Nice that Boomer didn't wake you up last night. I hope the new dose helps him get back to surfing the lagoon. I'm glad Allen is doing better. I hope you get more poop today. Sending prayers.

Judy hope the bump up gets Boomer back into the greens. Glad they like the new food and I so wish I understood the carb value thing. I just can't wrap my head around it. But at least I know that you, Gill and Marje can be the go to peeps with carb questions.

Boomer just had a very soft pudding poop (bordering on liquipoo) from the foods I gave him for +6 and +9. Guess I gave him too much too quickly. Bad careless mama bean :(

thats better Boomer... what was with that high blue this morning little man??? you gotta stick to the lagoon for mama bean you are making her a bit crazy...

so Judy idk if this will help you but i looked up why when they dont get food the BG can go up.. because it didnt make sense to me

and what i read was that your liver drips BG in... and that when you have a small carb snack it signals to the liver you are ok and stops the drip... so to me this makes sense why the +9 snack is important for a lot of cats... its been too long between meals and the liver is starting the drip... so we give kitties a snack and shut that off till PMPS

so i am wondering if maybe he needs more of a 5% at the +9 to get that signal through to the liver??? this maybe just me rambling but i was curious and have been trying to make sure Lincolns +9 is more around 5% now... just throwing ideas out there :bighug::bighug:

PMPS 122
GRRR so I've screwed up the measurement of the insulin again, just like last year the .1 and .25 mess me up every time. The .25F was closer to .5 so I've changed the spreadsheet to reflect .5 and today's dose will officially be .75.

I don't know?? I always thought that, at these teeny doses, the pancreas must be working a bit so when the body receives food the pancreas releases insulin to counteract the glucose in the food.
In the past, when Boomer was on "larger" amounts of insulin...maybe 1 unit or more....I gave him a snack at +9 and it seemed to lower his PS #s. As his insulin doses got smaller I think I increased the size of the +9 meal, my reasoning was to try to get the pancreas to release more insulin by giving more food. And I believe that worked.
But seriously nothing seems to be working this time:rolleyes: And now I've discovered that once again I'm reading the syringe wrong lol. So his official dose as of today is .75

idk i am still pretty new so was just giving an idea... maybe someone who has dealt with it longer has an idea?

sounds like you need a relaxing time for yourself :bighug::bighug:

idk either. Just when I think I have something figured out, something changes lol
He did really well on foods that were around 4%. Then he didn't. sigh. I'll get the dosing figured out first and then maybe experiment a bit with the +9s.

I do.....right now my two boys with their two different health concerns are driving me crazy with the food issues. It will get sorted out but meanwhile we're still waiting for Allen's blood work to come back.....it may not be just early stage CKD that we're dealing with. I need a vacation, or I need to know that I will be able to go on one in the spring or summer.....but Boomer doesn't seem to want to give me permission. ok pity party over lol
