Phoebes (GA)

Member Since 2017
She says looks like she is reacting. So she wants to move it up to 3 units x2 a day. Watch for odd hypo behavior, wait a week before doing another curve. Can spot check as needed. Because she has an issue pooping wants to keep her fluids 150ml every other day. With pumpkin daily. Dr is happy that I have this group. So maybe I can breathe for now and get some sleep. Phoebes response...lol

Yay!

This sounds good! The jump in dose is somewhat larger than what we usually do here (we generally go up in 0.25U increments)-- I think that sounds fine in Phoebe's case, given that she's been living in the 300's-500's, she probably really does need that much insulin. You should still get pre-shot tests, and try to get a spot check in on every cycle, especially on the first few 3U doses, to make sure she's staying safe. From this weekend's numbers, it looks like she's a pretty typical Lantus cat so far, with lows around +6, so spot checks anywhere from +4 to +8 will be really helpful in assessing the dose. With Lantus, we use the pre-shot tests for basic safety, but really the effectiveness of the dose is judged by the low numbers (the "nadir").

Now, get some sleep, and snuggle with your Phoebe!
