Hi. My 14 year old kitty sadly is out of his remission due to a bad bout of pancreatitis. I'm using an Alphatrak and Prozinc. Yesterday he tested at 215. I gave .75 of a unit at 3:30 pm. At 10:00pm he was at 90. This morning he tested at 183 at 7:00 am. I gave .3 of a unit. This evening at 7:00 he tested at 277!! Did I not give enough? Could he be bouncing? He went into remission within his first month so I never did tight regulation nor had extensive spreadsheets. Help!

Hard to know what's going on. Were you using ProZinc before his remission? I suggest getting the spreadsheet set up and starting on a systematic routine of dosing to see how he reacts. You might end up changing doses more later on but for now you need to see how he reacts to one dose. How about trying 0.5 u AM and PM (12 hours apart) for a day or two to get some baseline info?

Hi. He had used prozinc before. Started on 2 units and was controlled. Hypo'd after a month and went to 1 unit. Then partial doses and was off of insulin within a week. Im just worried about not giving a high enough dose as this kitty is going through a lot (kidney disease/hypertension/ heart probs/diabetic/ pancreatitis)

Going back on insulin after a remission can be tricky and your kitty might not react the same way. That's why I suggested starting back at a regular low dose. It can be raised after three cycles if it's ineffective but you need basic info right now.
