Dented cans

These are Fancy Feast classic (chicken). I don't know why the vendors can't produce better cans. I matched the dents. They are from one can sitting half way over another can. Then of course getting impacted or having 20 cases of cans stacked on it.

We are real careful with dented cans. If there is any can puffy-ness, any discoloration, funny smell, or anything else, we just throw out the can.

Not kidding on the following story - I was at Petsmart a month ago. A dented can was on the ground, partways in the aisle. It was a bit puffy. I nudged it to the edge of the aisle and it made a noise. I got away from it. There could be nothing worse than having a puffy can decide to spew nastiness on you.

I order from Chewy...frequently and in large quantities! My only complaint with them is that their cans frequently arrive slightly dented. If I have any question about them, I pitch them without a second thought. But, I understand Chewy is excellent about returns.

I've ordered from chewy. They ALWAYS come banged up. Try jet.com. I've used them twice And so far no dents.

I wonder if some of Chewy's orders are flown in.
I used to fly across country with my cat, and I would always noticed that the cans in my checked bag would be dented slightly when I arrived at my destination. I'm guessing it was the air pressure in the cargo area.

I used to work somewhere where we canned meat. 30 years later and in our home any dent and out it goes. Lucky for me my retailer has the same thoughts. I had a roommate who worked in a brewery, if he drank their product it was glass bottles only and he always held them up to the light first. Yechh!

I might just start throwing out the dented cans. They are cheap - only $0.50 or so. Not worth the food poisoning. I would think the cats would reject it if the the product is obviously off. But I could be wrongly endangering the kitteh kids. Heck, Little Dude drinks our of the bird bath in the back yard when I'm not watching. We all know that is not clean!

Off topic a bit but in Canada I have seen some canned soup without a Best Before date. I know some canned beans can build up gas (no limericks) and literally explode. Facial makeup here does not have to disclose what exactly is in it but when I got transdermal BUPE it came with gloves, hand washing instructions and the "Look" from my vet, "Just once in your life read the instructions!"
