Good morning everyone:):bighug:...will be taking Elmo's PMBG in about 45 minutes...60s today here in Mid west...ice/sleet coming for weekend...crazy train !!!!!

Hello. I haven't visited you and Elmo yet. He's looking good. Are you doing an OTJ Trial?
Hello Carla...i suppose we r doing our own version of OTJ. Last Thursday we were to switch over from vetsulin to Lantus but his numbers have been rather on the bubble so have been advised to watch and wait. We r ready to do what is best for him and keep him safe as well. Been practicing the "whiff of Lantus" and have all supplies ready in case needed. Looks like a waiting game for now. Being patient and optomistic. So, long story short, this is Elmo's day 7 version of OTJ. Any words of wisdom and knowledge very appreciated :)

Bit of observation...yesterday Elmo was alert, up roaming around but today thus far (early afternoon) he is more subdued, sleeping .....appy, LB both remain unchanged...just thot thot I'd make note

I can't believe you just said that! I was just thinking, "my house is a wreck, I'm totally disheveled and late going into work again" Uncle is clearly having a bouncy day so there really is no reason to watch over him. Gotta motivate!
:):):):bighug::bighug::bighug::eek::eek::eek:....it would be fully funny if not terribly true:nailbiting::woot::woot::arghh::arghh::arghh:....so glad I'm not in this boat alone

I don't have any advice. He's looking good. You may want to ask in your subject line if you should officially call it an OTJ trial.

Keep going Buddah Kitteh! You look soooooo good in green!

I think Mogs might be on to something.

I could be that he's getting a good pulse of insulin when there is food on board but not as much when he's fasting prior to pre shot testing. His blue numbers aren't that high so try not to get too wound up by them.
You're in a tough spot with Elmo because he's teetering on the edge of remission and you can't give Vetsulin now but switching to Lantus is a bit tough too. You could try a really tiny dose (so tiny you really can't see it) but you'd need to monitor him closely.

Thanks, Linda....just waiting and watching...trusting those of you far more experienced than myself as u help me understand what is going on. I have practiced the "whiff of Lantus" as Jill described a few days ago as a possibility...that dose is microscopic( I managed to squeeze it out when I practiced...it's like a teeny tiny drop had a weensey baby drop) but would not be comfortable giving it PM . Hoping Elmo helps me out by either going all green or going a bit higher so decision would be easier .....he and this bubble he is on could really make me crazy(ero_O) if I let it :banghead:.

And I read Mogs article it was very good, but what's the solution if that's the problem ??? And can a dose be given only once a day ??? Come on, Elmo, help your ole mom out here o_O

@Chris & China .....hey Chris, today is day 7 in this Elmo saga...any thoughts on what/how he's doing. Though I am clueless in this situation it seems to me Elmo is on a bubble, with no data to point in any direction. Honestly I would take movement in either direction, either to all greens (yeah) or higher so could start shooting and gathering data....just don't know . And the prospect of PM shooting makes my blood run cold .

With him still getting such good mid-cycle numbers, I hate to rock the boat too much, but if you want to try the "essence of Lantus", if he's blue at AMPS, I think it might be worth a try.....as long as you're going to be home and able to test of course!!

I'd also suggest if you try it, you make sure you have someone on board with you to watch over you through the cycle just in case

Thanks , Chris...I'm still not sure....am I understanding correctly that especially with meter variance the low blue 100s could just as easily be greens ? Also am I giving enuf data with the +3 mid-cycle BG ??
