Doodles 1/10 Oye, more coughing at PM +10....it's been 7 days since the last episode. He was also sneezing like crazy yesterday (does sneeze here and there) and his mouth is still open. I'm at my wits. Not convinced it's asthma since there were no diagnostic tests done except ruling out fluid from the CHF and assuming it's LAD because cats "don't cough". If it really is asthma and I can't treat it to help him breath it's getting cruel to keep him here. Although everything else in his QOL seems good. Still have those cough suppressants so guess I could try that :arghh: His BG's tell me something is wrong, it's not just the IAA. The sneezing ,coughing, mystery liquid poop a week ago and the vomiting of his food a few days ago is adding up to something.:confused:

Do I call the IM or regular vet for an appointment? I'm not a fan of the IM Dr. Rachet as I call her but she's in the cardiologists office. His regular vet is much nicer so may just go that route. Guess I'll see who can see him first?

Oh Karen I'm so sorry, you are battling so many things right now and it's so difficult to determine what is causing his symptoms. I have no experience with any of these issues so the best I can do is offer lots of hugs!:bighug::bighug::bighug::bighug::bighug::bighug::bighug::bighug:

I'm so sorry to read this. I would call the regular vet. The cats don't cough comment I'm not so sure about. I'm wondering if he has a cold. One time loose stool would not concern me and a one time vomit not so much either. With everything else okay I don't see this as an emergency. I do agree that what you see along with the high BG "might" mean something and would want to check it out. :bighug::bighug::bighug:

I agree with Elise that, for your peace of mind, a once-over is not a bad idea. Hugs and prayers...and it does sound like Doodles is "happily" still doing Doodles things...leave your sister alone, little man!

I'm sure Doodles will start acting "normal" now because you've made the vet appt! Cats!:cat::rolleyes:
Seriously though, one loose poop isn't concerning, one vomit isn't concerning, etc etc, but if you put everything together then maybe there is something going on. Best to take him to the vet just in case, there are so many variables when it comes to the Doodlebug, and hopefully it will ease your mind. More hugs! :bighug::bighug::bighug::bighug::bighug::bighug::bighug:

That's who I made the appointment with. They say cats don't cough because of CHF. I do wonder if he has an infection or something. There is something strange about his Levemir cycles.
That was my thought as well. I hope it's an easy fix and just a bump in the road. :bighug:

Time for a u-turn there Doodles, insulin makes you go down, not up in numbers. Weird that his am +4's have been spiking the last few days, but not the pm +4. Wish I had more to offer, but I can offer 2 :bighug::bighug: to the bean and I can spare a few extra for the Doodlebug:bighug::bighug::bighug:

Snick coughs when her asthma flares up, that's when I know it's time to take her in for her shot.

Thanks Suzi. The problem is they are telling me I can't treat it with pred or the inhalers because his heart isn't strong enough. So they gave me a cough suppressant only which is hydrocodone that will tell his brain not to cough and prevent further lung damage but does not treat the asthma. It may be the only option and I'm not liking it...haven't given it to him yet.

:bighug:Oh Karen I am just catching up today and so sorry that Doodles coughing and open mouth is troublesome right now. It good that you got a vetty appt. on Friday and hope you will get some answers. I know you aren't a fan of the hydrocodone but, want if......it really helped him? I think it was Les that suggested your to give a reduce dose of it to see how it sits. Might not be a bad idea. I know that it all is upsetting because you know the progression of his condition but gosh, that boy is racing around the house and giving Moo a run for her money so he must feel decent, right?
Hugs and more hugs :bighug::bighug::bighug::bighug::bighug::bighug::bighug::bighug:

I'm no expert of course but one thing I do remember a vet that had been studying respiratory diseases in cats that treated Babu for a while for his allergic rinitis told me is that is very important to determine if the wheezing ( the sound that they make when they breath) is made when inhaling or when exhaling, when is astma is made when they exhale and of course the rest of the studies they make like the X rays

And one more thing when they have trouble breathing a lot of times they throw up is like they think they have a fur ball stucked and they try to get it out but of course what comes out is what ever they have in their stomach

Sending you lots of :bighug::bighug::bighug::bighug::bighug::bighug:and prayers
