Hi Everyone

Testing has been going well. I tried to get some different times today. I gave his 3 units an hour early because I would not be at home and just tested at 3+. He is getting in the yellow, which is good I think. Thoughts on whether I should increase to 3.25 as someone suggested? (Vet suggested increasing to 3.5 in AM and stay at 3 in PM).

Thanks
Jenny

Hey Jenny, I would not increase yet with a nice drop into the yellows. Let 's see what his AMPS is. What time zone are you in and what time do you shoot?

ETA Are you getting pres shot numbers? Your SS indicates that you got +11 but not a PMPS. Maybe you did and it didn't get posted But, the 11 can be different from the Preshot number.

The 11+ was his preshot number since I had to do it an hour early. I am in the central time zone and will do his AMPS and then shot at 6:30 in the morning.

Okay, I remember that now , maybe indicate in the +11 cell that you shot insulin and how many units so peeps looking on will know. And remember to shoot no less than 11.5 hours from that time. With Lantus, you can make up shot times by 15 minutes each cycle or a 30 minutes a day.

The number you put in the PS cell on the spreadsheet is always the number you actually shoot....so if you shot early, you'd put 284 @ +11 in the PMPS cell

Bobby -

So if I am shooting at 13+ from his last shot, I should be ok?

Yes...a late shot may act like a decrease in dose (because you've let the depot drain a little) but it's totally safe (as long as he's high enough for insulin in the first place of course)

Usually (if you can), we suggest doing time changes in 15 minute per cycle increments OR 30 minutes per day until you're back on the schedule you want to be on

Here is your last post. We link them in the first post of each thread so that people helping you can go back and read what's happened before.

Yes, that's ok to shoot longer than 12 hours - it's when you're shooting less than 12 hours apart that you need to be more aware of what you're doing. Shooting less than 12 hours apart means that you are increasing the overlap between the end of the first shot, and the beginning of the next shot. It can be fine - just ask someone for input on whether or not it's safe at the time you need to do it. If a cat is in lower numbers, I wouldn't shoot early until you feel confident you know exactly what you are doing and it's potential impact on Grady's blood sugar.

I think you can go to 3.25u tomorrow. He's still pretty high.

One thought - can you add to your signature line "low carb canned, neuropathy" - it helps to have these little bits of info easily available.

I'd also like to request (as long as you're there) that you add where you live.....the suggestions we give (especially about food/supplies) vary depending on if you live somewhere in the US or in Canada or elsewhere....we don't need your exact address...just a general idea ;)
