A better way to transport cats in cars?

I've seen video of those dog seatbelts failing horribly. I just put cat in box, take side streets, drive defensively! What can we do, a padded crate! No way I want cat compressed by airbag. No matter how you drive there's always that one idiot out there.

I'm lucky, Louie sleeps on my lap and occasionally sits up and looks out the window when we're stationary which makes for some funny reactions from other drivers. I always keep a lead and harness on him in case anything should happen. Obviously someone else has to drive though.

When I take my kitties on the car I put the harness on, strap the lead to my seat bealt and they pretty much lay down either on the passanger seat or on the back seat , on rare ocasions they stand up momentarily and look out the window

I have a soft carrier and it goes on the floor on the passenger's side. My dog is on the passenger's seat with a harness strapped to the rear floor.
If I have have to take another cat they go in the rear seat with the seatbelt restraining the carrier.

My carrier.

Seatbelt the crate into the back seat. Crate is small...just cat size so hopefully kitty wouldn't bounce around in it and have a small pillow in the crate to lay on (machine washable). I always travel with cat harness and leash, dog muzzle and leash, cloth and paper towels and wet wipes, soft cat treats (to coax a frightened animal to you...cat treats work great for the dog too) and poop bags. As I'm writing this, I think I will add a pair of heavy gloves too.

I've never had kids and when friends arrive with theirs and start unloading the kitchen sink from the car I can't believe one child needs so much stuff for just a few hours. You've made me think about my cat traveling regime which is the same as yours and I realise I have to adjust my thinking lol

Supplies are another topic. My kitties get car sick and at times have accidents. The carrier has puppy pads lining the bottom. I use a tech tote to carry extra puppy pads, pet wipes, table liners(from baby changing tables in rest rooms), treats, extra leash. I also have note pad for jotting doctor visits in. In cargo of stroller has extra towels, bottle of water, plastic bags for trash. My wallet and phone goes in tech tote and hangs over handles of stroller. When I had to transport my sugar cat all his testing supplies and honey came with us.

Sounds like I need to add a few things to my car box.

Thanks! Their prices look very reasonable...I feel a purchase coming on!

They are and fast shipping. I ordered Labor Day weekend 2015. It arrived the Tuesday after Labor Day.

One thing to mention. Directions for assembling didn't come with it. It wasn't hard only the wheels and inserting the sides to carrier. Directions are online.

This is one of the very few where the carrier detaches from the frame so it can fold. The other strollers you can't detach or you can't fold them with animal in it.
