Hi need help for my kitty. Possible bounce ?? Vet told me to stop insulin on Jan 7 afternoon dose. I did and she's getting high reading even after giving her small amounts. Need to know if can give her another unit but how much.? Last time insulin was 9:30 1/8 unit and 12:39 1/4 unit. Now that the blood sugar is 179 at 4:17 not sure what to do. last reading was 101 11:15pm.
My kitty was in remission in July 2016 , but after monitoring her sugar every week to ten days I got a reading of 280 on Jan 5, after also seeing an increase in food/water for a few days. Just dec 24th she was 124. Seems weird to me to just jump in 10 days that high instead of a gradual increase. Vet said her labs shows increased BUN and creatine . Either 2 nod stage renal failure or dehydration. She has water avail at all times. Not sure if she got into something. We are very careful , she never got sick vomiting etc so not sure what's going on.
Thanks so much hope to hear back soon
Debbie

Copied from your other post on Health

It looks like you may have been following a different version of Tight Regulation that was developed by Dr. Elizabeth Hodgkins instead of the Tight Regulation Protocol we follow here

The "rules" are totally different .....Our Tight Regulation Protocol has been published in a veterinary journal and was written by Drs. Roomp/Rand

The Hodgkins TR was first developed for use with ProZinc insulin and has been "twisted" to be used for Lantus

Now that being said, we do know there are other dosing methods out there and the one that's best is the one that works for YOUR cat.....but I'd really suggest for your cats safety, you read our version of TR and compare it to the "rules" you've been following

This is our Tight Regulation Protocol....the link to the actual protocol is at the bottom of that page

Can you verify if you were using the Hodgkins method?

I honestly don't remember who because I thought it was your site I got this info. I just remember nadir numbers where important to determine when to increase or decrease. The number I remember to shoot at 12 hrs needed to be no less than 70 on a human meter. I looked at your sites protocol and I don't see that info . Can you tell me if it 70 ?
Thanks fir all ur help

The number I remember to shoot at 12 hrs needed to be no less than 70 on a human meter. I looked at your sites protocol and I don't see that info . Can you tell me if it 70 ?

It depends .....those of us with lots of data who know our cats really well will shoot anything over 50 on a human meter, 68 on a pet meter, but we usually start at saying that until you have enough data on your cat, you should Stall, don't feed and post for help if they test under 200

We really depend on seeing test results on our spreadsheet program when giving advice on when it's safe to shoot, so if you can put your tests into our spreadsheet, it will really help. I see @Wendy&Neko has given you the link to the instructions.

If you have any problems setting it up, let us know!
