bummed out that my leaving for a few days in dec. has set Uncle back. If that's all it is i will be grateful. I know others are struggling with more complicated issues

NDW usually happens on the 1st cycle of the increase....I think Uncle is just going to need more juice to get his attention again (when it's time of course)

I know it's disheartening to see those stinky pinkies, but this too shall pass

With Bubba, the NDW was usually his 2nd cycle. Below is taking from the Beginner's Stickie.

The Tight Regulation Protocol with Lantus or Levemir describes what we've fondly dubbed "New Dose Wonkiness" (NDW) here in L & L:

"Many cats will occasionally react to an increased dose with increased BGs - within the first 2 to 3 days after an increase, usually lasting for less than 24 hours. Nobody really knows what the reason for this phenomenon is (perhaps a "panicky liver"?) - hold the dose and ignore the fluctuations."

You might also see this happening while following the Start Low, Go Slow Method.
