Happy New Year! :)
Hoping this new year is one with more smiles than tears, more laughter than sighs..:bighug:
AMBG 80:D
Well we are back to dancing the dance of a thousand open cans, and none of them just right...:banghead::banghead::banghead::arghh::arghh::arghh:
We have Cerenia and Zofran and his AB Zenequin onboard, waiting for them to do their stuff, added Bupe topical just now..will give the B12 and possibly a little dash of mirt later if he doesn't eat. This morning he did eat a little, operative word being little, baby food. Argh..was really hoping we had turned a corner..time to pull out the pinchy patience pants:(:arghh:
Very discouraging this first day of the new year! Was hoping his resolution was to rejoin the CPC.

Hoping the kitties surf safely and eat their fuds, vines for the tired and stressed out Beans trying to keep up with the ever changing choreography of this dance, and a wish for smiles and scritches too!:bighug::bighug::bighug::):cat:
Happy New Year:bighug::bighug:

Les, so sorry about no appy this AM. What about raw? Will he not eat that anymore either?
Hi Bobbie..Happy New Year!
Nope, not at all. I am going to try to reintroduce it hidden in canned if I can get him to eat anything with gusto...I may have to resort to the mirt again, it does get him eating a lot, and he needs the weight. It works, but he's so ornery and nasty on it:(

Keep giving the meds on a regular basis until normal for several days. Then withdraw just one thing at a time. If all the meds aren't helping it's time for ultrasound but in my opinion if they work I'd hold off.
Will do..Happy New a Year Elise!:bighug::bighug:
Im hoping the B12 shots will work as well as they have for others here. I'm just hesitant to give it, funny huh? Not like I haven't stuck him with needles ever before:woot::rolleyes:

:bighug::bighug::bighug:

Argh! So frustrating. Hang in there Les. Sending tons of good appy vines.

Thanks Amanda! :bighug:
Happy New Year!
He must have heard you, just as I read this he got up and is eating some FF, no clue which one it is but I don't care as the remainders were all tossed since he turned his nose up at them earlier:banghead: now he's eating more baby food..I swear he's Goldilocks!
Will play spin the wheel of fuds for awhile it seems!o_O Guess Gussie likes the buffet format;)

Gussie at his buffet, he is sampling them all after turning his nose up at every one two hours ago:facepalm: sheesh...

Love that catnip bananas always at the ready with fud dishes. Phooey that Gussie's appy started out iffy but maybe he was waiting for his bean to realize that today's a smorgasbord sort of day for him. ;) Glad he resumed eating for you.:)

Just don't spoil him too much with that buffet:cool:, Jack would start expecting it after a day.... Come on Gussie, CPC one of those bowls:D
Glad he decided that the human offerings were good enough to at least nibble on!

Very discouraging, indeed, and I'm sorry to hear it. I've been thinking, however, that "ornery and nasty" beats starving.

Happy New Year Les!
I am sorry you have had more hiccups with Gus's food. I think it is all part of it. Sheba did the exact same thing yesterday morning ...New Years day......wouldn't eat. I gave her some zofran and a couple of hours later she started to eat again.
I notice in the photo of Gus eating, all the plates have quite a bit of food in them. When Sheba is not eating well I only put a small amount onto the plate and she seems to eat better. If I put more she will always leave some or won't eat.
Just a thought.

Your multiple can needing to be opened made me smile Les ! :)

That's good to have all kitties eating although bit complicated. Hope there
is no stealing with all those cans !

Small Kitty and Big Brother will some time swap bowl even is the same food had
been serve !

Happy new Year Leslie, health and all you might need to be happy in 2017 !

hi thanks all,
Sorry it's been a really backwards sliding kind of day here. Gus looks really uncomfortable, is ornery and complaining and not eating really at all, despite all the meds I have onboard. Last resort is giving him some fluids which are warming.
He pooped, rather loose but a good amount so hoping later on that will work some sort of magic on his system..
I'm really at a loss at this point. I KNOW he has lost significant weight despite what my scale says. Nothing interests him in the way of food. This is really feeling very grim

:bighug: to you. I know how frustrating the not eating is. Have you been assist feeding him?

Sorry for the downfall Les,

See this loose poop and symptoms could make diagnostic easier if you're still planning
to go to the vet. If you already went there, call them right this morning for advice.

In the meantime hope no matter what you have on hands will help. Take Gussie
in your hams and give him the affection you have. Not that much else you can do.

Prayers to his health coming back soon.

Good evening Les

Sébastien

My vet is not open tomorrow and I have to be back at Work tues and in dr appointments and meetings which will prevent me from trying to get him to eat.
I really after over three weeks am at my last straw.
I got some fluids into him with a major awful battle. Nothing is good for him right now. Every good day is followed by an even worse than the ones before day. He hid under the covers today, he has never ever hid anywhere ever before. My other cats are terrified of me because they know I'm doing something "mean and scary" even tho they don't know what it is..
I don't even know what I am going to do with him any more, as awful as that sounds even to me. And he has the front leg tremmoring again from the cerenia I suspect..
Sorry...this is just another in a string of lousy days..I feel like I'm just pretending because I want to believe that this is going to resolve and get better..
Thanks for your kind and supportive words...off to try to talk myself down from the wall I'm hitting...
:bighug::bighug::bighug:

Les I am so sorry Gus is not eating again....I know how disheartening and depressing it can get.
Have you tried some mince ( ground beef) or some gently poached chicken and serving it in the warm juice?
:bighug::bighug::bighug:

Tomorrow is another day. :bighug::bighug::bighug: It is so tough seeing them get older. More vines for you and a catnip tree's worth for Gussie.

I think I remember seeing it mentioned that mirt is an ssri antidepressent. Do you think that might be changing his demeanor? People can have unusual reactions to not only taking them but also stopping taking them, feeling like you have the flu and a bad cold at the same time, plus at least a few dozen other odd reactions.

I'm so sorry Gussie is causing you such stress, Leslie. I know just how you feel. I wish I could wave a magic wand and make it all better. :bighug::bighug::bighug:

Gussie, I know you don't feel well, but Mama is doing all she can to help you. Please eat your fuds.

Oh Les, hoping that you and Gussie had a better night last night. I submerged most of yesterday and last night and didn't read your updates until this morning.

I don't have any answers to life's mysteries but I do know how much your shared love for each other and all that you are doing for and with him are carrying you both through each challenge. You and Gussie are amazing and truly special beings ❤️❤️❤️

Sending bushelsful of hugs and vines for you both and for a better day today
Love
Sina

(((Les))), We are hoping that Gussie turns the corner again today and will be feeling better and will eat better. I know how distressing this is and am sending comfort vines to you and healing vines to Gussie. Hiding is so scary. You just have to deal with each day as it comes. I hope you can get him to the vettybean and that the vet will be able to pinpoint just what is the matter. It sounds like some of your meds may be reacting badly with others. Perhaps try the liver shake again?

Hugs & scritches,

Ella & Rusty
