Good morning!
And the greens come to an end :arghh: AMPS 106:eek: shooting .1u
Funny though.....last time this happened I blamed the salmon. Last night he had salmon (5.71%) mixed with H&G chicken (1.93%) aiming for about 4% average. And today he is higher. Today's auto feeder includes another meal of salmon/chicken (+6) although I think I used more chicken this time.

sigh this could drive a bean crazy and who knows, it might not be the food it might be him being a :cat:

Hoping for a walk or a snowy owl hunt later today but I do have a couple of errands to run first and of course it's Boomer that actually decides what I do each day!

Thats how be plan too now lol... come on Boomer stop driving your bean crazy... we worry it is a lot of what we are doing when your numbers change so help a bean out!... home you get to go for your walk and find that snowy owl !

So upset right now.
I'm hoping it is the salmon that he had last night. Still don't understand how one brand of salmon can be 9% and the other 2% and the one he had was 5.71% but mixed with H&G chicken which was under 2 %
So I've emptied the auto feeder and his next two meals are Purrfect balance chicken 1.84%

Boomer I see a Salmon restriction in your diet coming up!
Have any others noticed similar jumps with that particular salmon you are feeding a Judy? That's how the FF formulas came to attention right? Abnormal numbers jumps noticed by members? Might ask about and see..kinda weird it happened both times and that's the common element....?

Good idea! I'm going to go back into Boomer's ss to see when that jump occurred then over to the condos for around that period and hopefully I noted what salmon I gave him because I think I've had 3 different kinds.

Back in nov you were talking about a wild calling salmon possibly jumping his numbers
Yes I looked back and it was wild calling salmon that I fed him plus I was putting salmon treats on his food. And I did use one or two salmon treats lately although I usually use the chicken. The chicken treat is 0 carbs and the salmon is supposed to be 0 carbs as well.

According to my calculation of carbs in calories, the salmon is 5.71% which is a bit high for Boomer but it was mixed with another food that was under 2%.
Will raise the question as suggested by @Gussie's mom

Question: Anyone who feeds Wild Calling and, in particular, Jumping Salmon....have you noticed any higher BGs when you've fed this product? My information from the company isn't very old and my calculation is that it is 5.71% carbs from calories but it seems to make Boomer's levels jump, even when mixed with a really low carb food (which tells me the Salmon is a lot higher than 5.71%).

ETA: I've emailed Wild Callings and asked them to verify that the numbers they provided for the salmon are correct and that the product has not changed since those numbers were posted

Sorry about the higher numbers today! I have pretty much given up trying to figure out which food does what. I generally think that Mandarin does better on slightly higher carbs and Walter on really low carbs, but then they like to throw me a curve ball every once in a while. Like yesterday afternoon, when Mandarin jumped to 125 by +8 for no apparent reason. I guess I am going with "they're cats."

i stopped feedin the WC salmon back in nov when we both had some higher numbers after doing so... only feeding WC chicken, duck, turkey or beef now.... hope he comes back down to green soon

It might not be the carbs but rather the protein that makes him run higher? Elimination and notes are the best thing to try and figure it out. Now Booms, please stop upsetting mama and back to the lagoon buddy.

Glad he's coming down. Neither of mine would eat the WC salmon. I stopped using Wild Calling when I noticed inconsistencies in the colour and texture of the duck (this was a couple of years ago).

Finally made it back to the lagoon! Good job, Deputy Boomer. Now, if you could call the LagoonMeister and get him to follow suit!

Sorry to hear about your fuds woes. Maybe cut out salmon for a while. Too much fish isn't good in any event!
