? Chuck is 286 dose suggestion?

It's 20 minutes til +12 AMPS. I checked early because he's running around yelling at us acting like he's got high BG.

I'm going to wait until the +12 but I don't think he's going to be higher than 300. Either way I'm looking for suggestions on what dose to give?!
This evening's cycle was good with no contraband.
I will update with PMPS reading.

6 units looked like it was a bit much for his 427 the night before last before he found some type of contraband.
5.6 looked good on him for a 303 but it doesn't usually last as long at 5.8-6.
I'm leaning towards a 5.6 or possibly fat 5.6
I'm scared to drop him to low with a 6 unit shot.
 
What is your "target" goal?

Preface this advice by saying that I don't use ProZinc, but I don't see the 6 unit dose taking him "too low" or even "sort of low"....it only took him down to 127 the other night and we want them to spend as much time in those lower blue numbers (even mid-higher greens) as possible so their pancreas can heal.

If you're going to be home and able to test, I'd try it, but you do have to listen to your gut too so if it's telling you to shoot less, there's nothing wrong with listening
 
Update: I gave him 5.6 units and will monitor. I fed him the lowest carb food he has, 9 lives chicken.
I talked it over with DH and he thought it was safer since we are going to be out of the house after +4.
On a 6 unit dose he doesn't Nadir until usually +8 so he had a few hours to drop that night.
I would love to keep him steady in blues and high greens. I'm so scared of him diving that I play it safe too much and too often.
 
He looks like a very bouncy kitty to me....he gets into numbers his body isn't used to anymore and Mr. Liver kicks in by releasing all that wonderful stored sugars and hormones to bring him back up to where Mr. L has become accustomed to living at!

The only way to deal with a bouncy kitty is to keep getting them down into those better numbers and hope Mr. L gets it through his thick skull that's that is what you want so he should stop fighting you!! ;)

Amazing!! Can't wait to show DH! He loves Chuck Norris and says that's why he named our cat after him... Because he's a "bada*$" lol I originally named him Satan because when he first walked into our lives he was the most loving kitten. Once he got comfy with us he turned into the spawn of Satan. I was his toy and prey! Then we got him a brother and he decided to take it easier on me. He also use to hunt the mice in our old house and would put them in the bathtub and play with them in there because they couldn't escape. Once they died of pure terror he would kindly bring them to my face while I was sleeping. (Gag) Never ate them. Apparently he thought I wanted to.
