9Lives "Hearty Cuts with Real Chicken & Fish in Gravy"...
GA: Protein Min: 8%
Fat MIN: 2%
Fiber Max: 1%
Moisture Max: 82%
Ash Max: 3.5%
Taurine: 0.05%

These add up to 96.55% so is this Low Carb? Or Medium carb? I looked on Dr Lisa's chart but it isn't on there from what I can tell.

I heard on this site not to give any food with gravy in it except maybe in a hypo situation. As far as I know it is best to avoid gravies and sauces as they are usually higher carbs. I feed Smoky the FF pates mostly. He also gets a few of the FF
Chunky and Flaked varieties.

Yes, unless someone else knows for sure that this is low carb I'd save it for steering. Gravy is usually made with something starchy.

This is how I do the math at the grocery store. Ballpark but close.

8+2+1+82+3.5 = 96.5

100-96.5=3.5

100-82=18

(3.5/18)*100~=19% carbs dry basis

I'd say medium carb if low = <10, medium=10-20, high>20

What about Stella & Chewy's "Yummy Lickin' Salmon & Chicken Dinner"
Guaranteed Analysis: Re-hydrated: 118 Kcal/oz
Crude Protein - min 45.0% 14%
Crude Fat - min 15.0% 5%
Crude Fiber - max 2.0% 2%
Moisture - max 5.0% 75%
Taurine - min 0.25% 0.1%
Microorganisms - Not less than 10,000,000 CFU/oz.

Calorie Content (metabolizable energy, calculated): 120 kcal/oz., 4155 kcal/kg

So it would be 4%
(4/25)*100= 16?
seems high for a freeze dried "98% chicken & salmon"

JUST TO CLARIFY:

I asked about the carb level for the 9lives to add to my hypo kit.
The stella & chewy's is because I thought it could be a low carb snack but before feeding any snacks I look for info on the food because he is so food and carb sensitive.
(Just in case anyone else wants to PM me about his HIGH carb diet?!)

Unfortunately they sent the GA numbers:banghead: I went ahead and did the calculations for % calories from carbs using the GA's they sent me for rehydrated Yummy Lickin' Salmon & Chicken (which were different than the ones you posted above) and got 5.6. That will not be an accurate number, but it should be in the ballpark.

That is strange. I took the numbers right off the back of the bag. But either way it's not looking like it's low enough for his snacks. Guess I'll feed it to my other cat. Thank you.
