Boy Taffy was bugging me all night! I mean, he is cute when he wants food, gets up on my chest and purrs really loud. But even though he had snacks in the auto-feeder, he didn't want to wait. Then civ Baby got to bugging me, too!

I'm able to sneak in a tiny bit of pumpkin into Taff's food, but he is so far still eating fuzz when he can. He's eating, but not as enthused about current meals as normal. Been feeding a cooked chicken diet, mainly, lately. Going to try going back to the raw next batch (making tonight).f I have that whole batch in the freezer with the psyllium in it, but I don't want to risk him going off food again.

Hi Julie.

Hope you haven't floated away yet with all the rain! We got into LA late last night/this morning and it was pouring. Still pouring this morning when I woke up, but it's stopped at the moment.

Taffy is looking good. I glad he's so enthused about eating, but I'm sure you'd rather he showed that enthusiasm at a more reasonable hour. I hope Baby's appy improves - sending vines!

I know! We need some rain! Luckily it has let up for a bit so I could make it to my appt without getting soaked. I reread my post, and realized it was unclear. It is Taffy who is still not quite eating. Baby is good, but mostly eating his dry. So stubborn!

Do you think these factors could be contributing?
A) he's eating more often, with the snacks, so he's not as empty at meal time?
B) as his numbers come down that ravenous behavior tends to wane..might that be happening?
As to the dust bunnies, well no clue on that one!o_O
Hope your eye appointment went well and they can bring some relief for you:bighug::bighug::bighug::bighug:
Surf safely Taffy..work that juice gently.....:bighug:

106 @ +7.5
Don't know if he is on his way back up after going lower mid-cycle, or ? (I had to be out at that time.) His next test will tell me.

Yes, to both! Definite possibilities.

Long-standing issue. Not every day, but usually. Cannot seem to pinpoint why. Some people and vets have said it is just behavior type of issue, but I feel like it is diet/physical. We will keep trying to solve.

Hated the guy. Wasted my time. Dermatologist, and was condescending and useless. But I see an allergist week after next (all out of office for the holidays, of course!)

Apparently, I still really don't get this depot thing or how to predict anything with Taffy's numbers...
I mistakenly assumed that at +7.5 = 106, we were probably going to head back up a bit. And, he had a snack.
So, I didn't get more tests (I was busy too and he was relaxing)
PMPS = 72

So, reading my "shooting low preshot #s" for the umpteenth time, staring at Taffy's SS, and I'm home, stocked and not groggy at this point. I'm thinking go ahead with current 1.75 shot.
I totally should have gotten a +10 or +11, but I didn't...dummy me!

Always think I am getting a fur shot because sometimes I can't see well when I am shooting and he gets squirmy. But, I always feel and sniff him for insulin, and never detect anything, so I assume it was a good shot.

If I give him FF "grilled", I was told these are MC, so he eats all parts or just the gravy? When I use the high card Gravy Lovers, I just give the gravy.
I think I'm just going to give him some LC right now.

A little meat is OK along with the gravy....the protein converts to glucose too...just at a slower rate....we want to get "easy to digest" carbs in quickly to bring them up (or in this case, slow him down) but having the protein "kick in" later is good too

I can't stay up with you tonight but I'll tag @Gill & George ....hopefully they'll be online soon (in Spain so it's morning there)

Just remember....as long as you can get him to eat, you're usually going to be able to keep him safe.....that's why we always ask if you have plenty of supplies!

IF he drops below 50, give a couple teaspoons of FF "Gravy Lovers" (mostly the gravy this time) and retest in 20-30 minutes.....if he's doing OK then, no more high carb food....but retest in 30 more minutes......if still OK, retest in 1 hour

We want them to be surfing or coming up for at least 2 hours after the "low" without having to feed more high carb food (a little low carb is OK)

If he drops down again and you have to give more HC food, that 2 hour "clock" starts over

Could you update you subject line with the latest? I'd get rid of the AM numbers for more room.

How good an eater is Taffy? I wouldn't want him too full in case you need him to eat later. You could give him 1-2 tsp of LC.

He's usually a good eater if he is not feeling off. he is eating well today. Checking again in 5

Sorry for delay...had to give him some gravy and then laptop wouldn't come back on!
he was at 46 at 30min (that was his +3)
checking again in 20 (well 10 now)

So, as I am doing this all rather calmly and not in a frenzy as in past extended lows...and paying more attention to exactly what I am doing (not perfectly, but more than before) and why, etc. I guess this means he is a slow responder to the carbs. One more 40s and he might get some honey.
He is playing with a jingle ball by himself right now. Early Xmas gift. So cute!

Going to do the same as you two. Check and no food and see if we can make it two hours without delicious gravy!

If Uncle has just barely gotten up into the 50's I will give him some LC after the test to help him not drop again but also not bump him up too much so that he can hopefully surf AND then I know he's doing okay without MC or HC intervention.

I'm going to hit the hay. I know you've got this. There are some people on now and the east coasters will be coming on soon.
Hope you and Taffy can get some sleep in what's left of the night.
