Noah gets Caninsulin twice a day. He now gets an average .15ml twice daily and I can usually only maintain numbers to the low teens. Yesterday AM he was 23.5 / 423. Last night he was 6.5 / 117 BEFORE his shot. If he was that low at the end of the day how low could he have been mid-day? Too bad I wasn't doing a curve. I was home all day with him and he had good balance, vision, appetite and attentiveness. We use an Accu-Chek meter.

I don't think I understand this, Nigel.
I'll just stick with the Canadian system. His numbers are high AM & PM, he gets Caninsulin, then numbers go down and then go back up over 12 hours. His averages have been going up, right now his highs are around 20. So how can he still be so low after 12 hours? At the beginning he was a once-per-day shot. Maybe he's headed to remission. The main question was if he's only 6.5 after 12 hours how low was he at six hours? His brother used to go under 4 and my vets couldn't believe he could still walk.

Would you mind clarifying Noah's dose, Nigel? We're a bit confused. As for BG units, Mogs (Critter Mom) and I use the world units so we understand BGs of 6 or 23, etc.

Sorry for the dose confusion. I switched from the 28 gauge Caninsulin syringe to a 31 gauge Monoject. Noah is getting six Caninsulin units, or .15ml. So here's the story, Noah's numbers have steadily increased since the day he was diagnosed in August. Noah has always been lower at night than AM but just within the past week he's been so low PM that I did not give him any Caninsulin. The last 3 nights his numbers (Metric/US) were 8.9/160, 6.5/117, 5.3/95. If he did a steady decline from a high AM number to a low PM number that would be okay, BUT what if his mid-days were lower than his PM's. His brother Nigel dipped to 4 more than once and never had any of the symptoms of such a low number. I haven't been able to do a curve until today. Hopefully this should be a case of lowering his insulin to get his AM/PM numbers more in line. He also has an enlarged heart and cardiomyopathy which killed all 3 brothers and his mom and dad before they were 8 years old

It would be useful if you provided dose and BG information int he following form so we can better understand want is going one:
Date
AMPS (the BG measured before AM shot) and then insulin dose in units
+x and then the BG measured after x hour after the shot
PMPS (the BG measured before PM shot) and then and the insulin dose in units
Next day.

It seems like it is the following for the last three days:
12/19
AMPS? Dose?
PMPS 8.9/160 dose?
12/2o
AMPS? Dose?
PMPS 6.5/117 dose?
12/2o
AMPS? Dose?
PMPS 5.3/95 dose?

We can certainly help if you give the info in the format Larry has shown. Apologies for calling you by your cat's name.
