Doodles & Karen

Member Since 2015
Doodles 12/19 Doodles is BTB after watching Cat Sitter 2 which is all birds and they make different sounds :)

After his PM +8ish snack, he was on the cat tree watching TV, I fell back a sleep to be woken up by him coughing/choking. It was a short episode but non the less he was again having trouble swallowing and breathing afterwards. I always put my ear to this lung area and it didn't sound good. He didn't finish breakfast this morning (but will later) and I'll be calling the cardio office again.

Moo is on a food strike unless I give her FF Salmon :arghh: I never fed them fish for this reason but she went off FF Chicken when they changed the formula and won't eat it anymore. She'll nibble on other food but literally holds out for the Salmon Crack as we call it.

Extra vines & prayers for Amber's brother, our little Gussie man and SK today. Hope all the kitties surf safely and are feeling good.

sorry about the coughing episode, Karen
hope he gets back to enjoying the TV watching - I do hope we get a cable channel CatTV soon (to go along with dog TV)

:bighug::bighug:

I am so sorry about Doodles coughing episode. Please breathe easy Doodlebug!

I hear ya on the ff salmon crack. Halloween is not a big eater and recently she has decided that is the only thing she wants to eat as well. Supper annoying!!

Doodles relax a little and breathe. The birds got him to excited. My kitties don't care to much for the bird parts. The love the gerbils and most of the butterflies. They noticed the squirrels the other day.

She's usually my garbage can cat but since I gave her the salmon crack she's holding out big time!

Interesting. Halloween was always my big iffy eater. I don't know what the deal is with this Salmon. I am telling Halloween she is not allowed to call her friend Moo until she has eaten some other yummy food that she wants to talk about with Moo.

Oh no on the coughing attack! And hoping that the Torsemide will help. Wonder if the two drugs could be alternated to help with the efficacy and not getting to immune to one or the other.

It is wonderful the way you can get him to watch TV. I too hope TV gets a Cat Channel because I have my doubts about Bubba watching TV and I don't have a DVD player hooked up to the TV.

Have you tried sprinkling some bonito flakes over Moo's non Salmon Crack food to give her the fishy smell?

Sorry about the coughing episode - that just sounds so scary. I am glad that he enjoys watching TV so much though. I'm sure that's much easier on his heart than chasing his sister around the house.

Sending lots of vines and :bighug::bighug::bighug:

Gotta say I'm at my whit's end. He's fine now, like nothing happened but at 3:30am it was a whole different story. From what I've read they cannot be used together. Torsemide is apparently stronger and gets better absorption and is typically used when they stop responding to Lasik. The thought of having him choke to death and suffer one of these times is a lot for me to handle most days. Trying not to think about it and just enjoy him but it's very difficult.

I left a message, we'll see how long it takes to get a call back.

I feel for you Karen I share your fear on the coughing and breathing attacks. You might want to try and gently massage between the two front legs and breast bone it helps to open the airway. Just a thought. I will be doing that to Fritz I even massaged him there this morning he likes it.
I bought the three volumes of the cat videos. Hope I got the right ones from Amazon?
Hope for a better day for Doodles:bighug::kiss::cat:

Thanks Deb, I do it quite often with Doodles. During and after the attack especially until he seems to breath normally. I hope Fritz does well and also loves the videos!

Oh Doodles, you were on such a good run with no coughing fits. Glad this one wasn't as bad, but it has to be terrifying. Hope the IM doc can offer some good options to help Mr. Doodlebug.

Hang in there Karen... and you too Doodles! Wish there was more I could do to help.

I'm so glad Dr. CHurch will see him Friday. I know it's mad panic when he coughs...I would be the same way...but if there is any way at all to get a video to show Dr. C, that might help him decide what might work better for Doodles.

It's great he is still enjoying his videos so much!

Hugs for you, my dear friend. I think about you two every single day.

but if there is any way at all to get a video to show Dr. C
It happens so fast without warning that my only reaction is to comfort him. If it happens again and Joe is around we'll try to! :bighug::bighug::bighug:

The tech did mention that coughing is common in dogs. Some of them do have coughing fits and as long as they recover then they don't worry and that it might be the same for Doodles :confused: Anywho...we'll see what happens Friday.

Karen, I can only imagine the stress that it causes you. I hope the vet can come up with something else that will give you lots of time in between attacks or none at all. ( I'm visualizing this for you and Doodles ) :bighug::bighug::bighug::bighug:

I'm so sorry Doodles had another coughing fit. That is good you can get in tomorrow to see the cardio guy.
Sending good X-ray and Vetty vines. :bighug:
