Current EVO dry carb contents from mfr

For those who are stuck with feeding at least some dry or are transitioning: EVO recently changed its 4th ingredient to tapioca starch, which I've read here raised its carb %. I called the company and they told me carb % was 7%. I stressed I wanted as-fed carb content for today's formula and after some delay have received this. BTW, my cats don't like it (turkey/chicken type) so carb restriction's gotten really easy, they'd actually rather have wet at this point!

Excellent! Its still higher than I'd want, but its nice to know its under 10%

Sometimes Gordy screams at me until he gets some. (I like to give him just wet if I can get away with it.) He is so spoiled. :(
 
Better than what my junior is getting. his on half wet and the other half is wellness dry. I calculated the dry food is 22% carb.

You may want to try young again. It's zero carb dry cat food. I heard from other people that if you call them they'll send you a free sample.
 
Thank you for sharing this information! My jinx gets 1/4 of a cup of evo turkey/chicken everyday after doing much research about the lowest carb dried food (I have to feed him a bit of dry food because nobody is home to watch him for hypo symptoms from 11am-4pm so it's a bit of a preventative measure). But I was never sure what was the exact percentage and I feel less guilty now giving this to him. It's lower than what the vet wanted me to feed him (their expensive dry food).

I didn't know about the free sample and so bought the 4 lb. YA to try--made Mamacita throw up so much (and definitely not from overeating, was just mixing a small amount into the DM to transition her). So done with that one.

Yup, the vet (vet's wife, actually) forced me to buy a 10 lb. bag of the DM dry at $56.50 + tax--I've seen various carb ratings for this from 5% to 13% to 18%. The double-digit ratings I've seen in numerous places, the 5% in only one.

I've read here that there is some sort of 'guarantee' that you can get a refund from the manufacturer for veterinary foods which prove unsuitable - even if the bag has been opened. If you still have some left it might be worth enquiring about this with your vet. From what I've seen posted here you can just advise that the cat wouldn't eat it in order to be eligible for a refund. Worth a try?

They have now eaten most of the DM so I won't try to get a refund, but I need to check into getting one on the YA--doubt that can happen. But when I bought the EVO last week I went to a big animal store quite a trip from here and I was very pleased to hear from them that they themselves guarantee all their pet food, even if the bag's down to crumbs, full refund, no questions asked. Now THAT is cool! The cats definitely don't like the EVO but there being no alternative out there, and wanting to transition to just wet food for everyone, that's all there is for them now.
