Thank you everyone who visited yesterday.:bighug: As always I was blown away by the love and support of everyone. It means so much...especially when you have a sick kitty!

AMPS 247 after spending most of the day and night yesterday in the lagoon.

Sheba did not have a good night. She was obviously very uncomfortable again and spent the entire night flopped down on the floor boards. She hasn't been near either of her beds since this started. I was up and down all night checking her BS as she was low and wanting to drop further. She was incontinent of faeces three times.....just a small amount of fluid each time but it got all over her fur and I had to wash her each time. (she has never done that before). She had been passing very smelly gas all evening. I gave her a teaspoon of pumpkin in food during the night which she ate for me and this morning there was a partly formed/ partly loose BA in the LB. I am going to have to give her a bath today ...the back half of her at least.....as she is very smelly still, and give the floors a good wash.
When I came down this morning she didn't bother to lift her head:(, even when I got her food out.
I gave her a zofran and waited almost half an hour before feeding her. I got out the canned Weruva ...she usually loves it but doesn't get it often because I feed her raw. She is eating it slowly..I am just giving her a teaspoon at a time.

We were late with the insulin this morning as I gave her zofran first. I reduced her insulin dose by 0.25units this morning as I had to feed her a lot of honey and high carb to keep her from dropping too low last night and I don't know how she will go with eating today. I am just too tired to deal with low numbers today.
She had her usual dose of tramadol for pain....if she still seems in pain after that, I can give her another dose of it.

Bron, your doing great in caring for Sheba. It's hard to see them so uncomfortable. I think your right with the lower dose until until she's eating consistently. Management of the p'titis needs to come first. Hang in sweetie. Try to rest when you can.

Dear Bron, I am so sorry that Sheba isn't feeling well and hope that she is better ASAP. Have you tried SEB for the diarrhea or Florastor? They did wonders for Bubba when he had diarrhea. Sending hugs.

Thank you Paula, Sandi, Bobbie, Serryn, Wendy and Carla for the support, vines and suggestions.

@Wendy&Neko @Bobbie And Bubba thank you for reminding me about SEB. I give it routinely to Sheba normally but haven't the last couple of days because we were so out of routine. I have just given her medications but will give some in a couple of hours. Bobbie I have not heard of florastor but will look it up. Not sure if we can get it here in Oz.
I wish she could talk and tell me what hurts.

If you can get the florastor, it is a brand of S. Boulardii and you can add it right to the food and Bubba does not detect it. There is another product called Jarrow, which is also a S.Boulardii and much cheaper but it has something in it called MOS which is bitter and you would need to gel cap it. I hope you can get one or the other there.

Hi Bron.

I'm so sorry to see that Sheba is still so uncomfortable. I know p-titis flares take a while to run their course. I guess all we can do is try to keep them as comfortable as possible. Poor baby.

I looked at Florastor's website and didn't see anything about international availability, so I sent them an e-mail and asked. I'll let you know if I hear back.

Sending mega healing vines. Take care of yourself, too! You don't want to become ill and have to activate Team Sheba!

ETA: Heard back already. Not sold in Australia. Based in France:

Thank you for your email and your interest in Florastor. Unfortunately, Florastor is not sold in Australia.

Please contact our parent company located in France at webar@biocodex.fr for more information.

Maybe google S. boulardii and see where it's available?

Thanks Karen, Bobbie and Tricia for all the vines, prayers and info.
@Bobbie And Bubba I looked florastor up and it can be bought here but is hugely expensive.
@Tricia Cinco(GA) & Harvey Thanks for emailing the company Tricia, that was kind of you. It is horrible seeing her so uncomfortable and miserable..........No we certainly don't want to activate team Sheba.!!

Sheba has had her bottom bath and I have washed the floors. She is always so good in the bath. She is eating slowly but without much interest.
It is a really hot day here today with temperatures to reach the high 30s.

Yes, it is about 50 dollar for a bottle here but it works! I only use it when their is diarrhea and I use a cheaper probiotic and digestive enzymes daily. Check out the Jarrow and she if you can get that. That is about 18 dollars a bottle here which is a big difference from the Florator.

Thanks. I will check them out. The florastor was about double the cost out here, depending on the number of capsules.

Bron, it sounds like she might need more cerenia. Flagyl (metronadozole) works well for diarrhea. Tiffany had that liquid d once and a week or so of flagyl got rid of it. It tastes nasty so needs to be gel capped carefully. Did she get another dose of mirt? :bighug: And vines

@tiffmaxee
I have been thinking the same thing about more cerenia. Her appetite has fallen away and she is no longer interested in eating. Fortunately she has eaten a reasonable amount.....it has been slow going....... and her blood sugars are not dropping today, which is a relief. I am too tired to think properly.
The vet asked me to ring today if she was no better so I rang about an hour ago but he was in surgery and will ring me back. I will ask about more cerenia and possibly more subcut fluids. She normally drinks really well but when she is sick she doesn't.
I gave her a Zofran this morning. Thanks

Brown, can you get cyproheptadine in Australia? It's a human drug and worked for both my cats better than mirt but of course ECID. Max didn't need appy stimulants often when I was able to control the nausea.

@tiffmaxee
I just looked up cyproheptadine. We call it periactin and I am sure it is available. But I don't think she needs an appetite stimulant. I think she feels sick and once that is sorted she will eat.
I have just called and made another apt with the vet for early this afternoon. The vet I saw yesterday will be in surgery for some time and I want to get her some relief. I like the other vet we are seeing and Sheba knows her.
Thanks Suzi for the vines.

(((Bron))), I am so sorry that Sheba is still not feeling well. I hope that she'll be much better tonight. I don't have any meds recommendations, but Rusty and I are sending your girl a beautiful bouquet of healing vines.

Hugs, scritches

Elise, you could well be right. I gave her a tramadol this morning, but it may not be enough. I'm not sure they will give bupe with tramadol aboard. I will be asking though as I am sure she has pain/discomfort.

Thanks Paula. Am getting ready to go to the vet now....it is just after 1pm Tuesday here.

Just catching this now, Bron - hoping the vet can assist this afternoon and Sheba is over all the discomfort very quickly. :bighug::bighug::bighug: all round.

Thank you Amy, Les, Asrael, Jayla and Sarah for visiting and the vines and prayers.

We are back from the vet. Sheba was most unhappy there again today and growled a lot of the time but not as much as yesterday. We saw a different vet...I like both.......but I was glad to get a second opinion. Sheba has a lot of gas in her tummy and that is why she is looking a bit bloated. The vet had a good look at her but could find nothing new...except the bloated tummy.......she has been passing foul smelling gas the past 24 hours.
She was unable to have any more pain meds as tramadol and bupe don't go together but she had some more cerenia and some SubQ fluids again. She also had an imi antibiotic....clavulox...and will continue with the oral tablets from tomorrow.
We will just have to see how she goes in the next 24 hours.
When we got home I took Sheba out of the carrier and she immediately went into the kitchen and asked for food........that told me that she was affected most likely by nausea and not so much the pain (hopefully the tramadol is covering the pain).. ........she ate what I put down. I tested her BS and it was 79. I tested it 2 1/2 hours ago and it was 273. I thought she was on the way up!:eek:
Sheba is curled up in her bed at the moment...the first time she has used it in about 36 hours. Before we went to the vet earlier she was flopped on the kitty litter in the LB.
Thank you all for visiting and sending vines. It means a lot and the support is wonderful.

Thanks Red and Rover, Sarah, Tricia and Carla for visiting.
After Sheba had something to eat following the vet visit she slept soundly for the rest of the afternoon in her bed. I think she was exhausted.
At PMPS she was not very enthusiastic about getting up and eating. I tried the raw and she ate a small amount but didn't enjoy it. So I swapped to canned and she eventually ate a reasonable amount of food out of 2 different cans. I had to do room service though as she didn't want to get up.
She doesn't appear to be passing as much gas now and her tummy looks a bit less bloated. @Tricia Cinco(GA) & Harvey ..I am sure she will feel better once it has gone. I looked back in her diary and I have commented a couple of times about her tummy being bloated when she had a p...titis flare. No further loose pops either yet....fingers crossed. I did give her pumpkin which usually works for her.
I still feel worried about her as she hasn't really started to pick up yet. She looks like she is going to but it doesn't last. I guess she has stopped vomiting and the loose poops seem to have stopped. So I am thankful for that.
Pancreatitis is a real pain in the you know what.:banghead:
Hopefully tomorrow will be a better day.
It is almost 11 pm here and still 27 degrees C after a really hot day....almost 39 degrees and we have another day like it tomorrow. I am hoping I can get a bit more sleep tonight as I am so tired I can't think straight having been up with Sheba much of the last 2 nights.
Thanks everyone for your support, it's wonderful.
Sorry I haven't visited any condos today, hopefully tomorrow.

I'm so sorry to hear that Sheba has been having such a hard time of it! Poor girl, she must be miserable. Hope she is on the mend, now. Try to get some rest for yourself, you being over-tired doesn't help either one of you! :bighug: Mega prayers and vines for both of you! :bighug::bighug::bighug:
