Good morning and hoping all had more gentle nights with kitties in happier appies.

Sootie's am 74. Yes, Martha Stewart's 'it's a good thing' but a puzzlement just the same. No juice in just over two weeks (and not bc if any otj trial). Are we seeing a happy Mr.P and Mr. L ? Or should I be worrying (crossing paws that the second small intestine tissue sample test results come back neg) bc her morning bgs start lower and lower each day. Under other circumstances I'd be cautiously jubilant anti jinx.

This morning Sootie took her time getting to the stair landing (grey dark rainy morning...no snowflakes). She despises the stinky salmon omezaprole goo but snagged from my hand a freeze dried salmon piece that I was trying to crumble. This happened not once but twice and with fervor. "That treat has MY name on it. Everybody stand back!"

Definitely gotta get an alternative form of that med if we are to continue with it.

Azalea good with eye drops this morning, but what's a mealtime without someone being fussy? What delighted Azalea last night is simply too not interesting this morning...smorgasbord begins again...

Love hugs vines galore and smooth gentle day for all from us all here in rainy day mode.❤️❤️

One of those days....get to the gi's vet place (an hour's drive) to pick up Sootie's cerenia refill and find out if they'd gotten around to oking the switch of omazeprole to tablets. Get there, they put it all in bag I pay for it and the omeprazole is capsule form. Can't get answers bc everyone has to
Go through a message tree......so I wait and wait and wait.

Lovely shade of green this morning Miss Sootie. :D Sina, if you don't shoot insulin, we call it AMBG (blood glucose) and PMBG - that indicates that you did not shoot that cycle.

Good luck getting the meds sorted out. :banghead:

Were you going to try to get her to just eat it from your hand or crush it and syringe with liquid? If the latter, easy as pie to just open the capsule.

When Amy's Trixie had a bad bout of P-titis, Amy wasn't giving insulin because Trixie wasn't eating, and her BGs came down - she ended up not restarting insulin, and Trixie is still OTJ (anti-jinx). Sometimes it takes a jolt to the system to wake up the pancreas. Maybe, just maybe, that's happening here. :D

Thanks Wendy, yep I'll do the ambg and pmbg. Have done it before; now subliminally antijinxing, lest things change the minute I put the Bg after am or pm! I'll try to be more optimistic.

And thank you for checking in on us, especially these days. Always appreciating your kindness and help, and with ❤️ for you and dear Neko now glorious in spirit in every life and journey.

Today tried to change the omeprazole to pill form: a strange exercise in ups and downs and metaphorical head banging. First it's about an hour drive to get to the group. Had asked for pill form by phone and email. Got there, was given capsules. Was told no way to get pills in right dosage without it being compounded. Ok. So I'm half way home , compounding pharmacy calls and says they don't compound them, they get micro dose pills from a pharmaceutical company. Those pills loaded with sugar.:( Ok, can't do the capsules whole (esophagus), not supposed to open the capsules, and Sootie getting really ticked off doing the liquid goo (syringed or via a homeopathic squirty bottle). They suggest try another flavor of the goo at no charge. Ok, sugar free chicken flavored goo on its way tomorrow. Was really nice of them to offer and do for free. Hope Sootie likes it. Crossing paws.

I won't go into how I frustrated I got trying to get through to the hospitals about Azalea. Let's chalk it up to technology and snow in Boston...

On the drive home, moon came up and was full bright and huge. Ah, tonight is Supermoon? Tomorrow Full Moon? No wonder things are wonky here and there today? Thinking, too, of Leslie and Gussie hoping both have sweet gentle night.❤️

I was hoping pill form, the smaller the better bc Sootie literally eats the 1/2 cerenia tab from my hand with a few crumbles of soft freeze dried treats mixed in.

The omezaprole liquid and doing it as a syringed dose was ok for about a day and then she began fussing more and more each time....hard to gauge whether it's the taste, smell, texture or the syringe that bothers her. Tried in fud..nope. Tried in homeopathic squirt bottle (she guzzles her remedies from them!) nope.

I'll try the open capsule tomorrow; see how that goes!

Thanks again Tricia and hope you have a smoooooth supermoon night!

Ok, Wendy I noted Bg after am and pm! Crossing fingers and toes while doing so!!!!;):bighug:

Sootie's pmbg 77. Skipped shot again.

After all the fuss today to try and get omezaprole in pill form bc Sootie eats the cerenia pill from my hand: she changed course 180 degrees!!!! Rooted it out of the crumbles! So she got 'pilled.' Startled yes? But appy pretty darn good tonight yay!

Amidst everything today, I checked in with reg vet also bc Sootie's been on clindamycin injections with fluid twice daily for ten days now. He said stop the a/b, continue fluids as needed and b12 once weekly, the come in for recheck when the results of that next tissue sample are in (couple of weeks). Ok. Sounds like a plan.
now another  for the day: recd reply tonight from email this morning to gi dr: she says continue a/b and fluids and re-evaluate at next visit to be when the next tissue sample results are in!

I think I'll sleep on it. Now to make supper for two-footers. Thanks again for hangin' in with us and our ever unfolding chapters...Hoping all have smooth night and enjoy the beautiful moon tonight❤️

Do these two vets ever talk to each other?????

I wonder too.
In fact today's adventure caused me to pause and ponder whether anyone in the new practice, despite tons of fancy dancey internal communications (texting, messaging etc), ever figure out what's going on. I do like this gi/fd specialist but I'm not thrilled about some of the other sorts of stuff.

i see reg vet's logic, (don't over do a/b unless long course of a/b absolutely essential), I don't see specialist's logic on this one. So...only way to know is to ask her.

Doing the meds dance must be so frustrating. Have a good evening, anyway, Sina

Yo Dessert Chef Sootie, tomorrow's the Full Cold Moon Party. Start thinking about your surprise dessert!

Hang in there Sina, I wluld have totally lost it with the two competing advice versions!! I think your approach of sleeping on it is a far better choice! ;)

@Ella & Rusty & Stu(GA)
Dear Chef Rusty,
I think we have just the surprise dessert for the occasion of tonight's Cold Full Moon AND St. Lucia Day (in honor of LL scandihoovian beans), if the latter is also ok with you.

I've asked my civies to start gathering the ingredients. All but one have been right on top of things. Except Spunky of course (see photo attached). Ya'd think with a name like that........!

Anyhoo, how does this surprise addition to the dessert lineup sound:

"Cold Full Moon and St. Lucia Day Lingonberry Surprise"

Lingonberry froth gelee infused with essence of North Sea bioluminescent phytoplankton, fashionably topped with springs of holly, rosemary and mouse whiskers; centered in a garland of Christmas Cactus leaves and flowers, woven lightly together with winter prairie grass, on a bed of Canadian forest moss with a dollop of sugar-free farm fresh whipped cream and a St. Lucia Day candle on the top.

How does that sound?
Now....I hear from mama bean that Spunky is netting the phytoplankton! We should be good to go if this dessert whimsy meets with your approval!

Yours in thankfulness,
Sootie
