Really rough day for little Iris yesterday. She was already extra sniffly in the morning and after I came home from my volunteer shift, I noticed that she was gasping for air and doing some open mouth breathing. A few hours later, she started to have massive amounts of discharge from her nose. Ironically, this is the first time that she has symptoms of an actual URI. So far, she always had difficulty breathing, but has never had discharge. She is in better spirits this morning and had a good appetite.

The boys are continuing to do well. Mandarin's numbers have been a tad bit higher since his reducie, but I have been really happy with the overall trend and he still spends every night in the lagoon. Walter also made it into the lagoon last night. :D

Other than grading, there's nothing on the agenda for today. Oh, and a nice snowy walk with the pups. We have about an inch or two so far and are expected to get some more. Lenny and Bear are super excited. Perfect weather for the Chow Chow boys.

Ah Poor Iris! Will she need an antibiotic now?
Always nice to see the boys visiting the lagoon these days! Good work Mandarin and Walter!
Have a good day Christina!

I have a call out to the vet. I actually talked to her earlier in the day yesterday, before there was any discharge. At that point, we decided to just continue with supportive care for now (Lysine, humidifier, Albuterol as needed) - but I think she might need ABs now. ...and have I ever mentioned that she is HORRIBLE about meds? My sweet little cuddly girl who sleeps under the covers with me every night turns into a ferocious beast when you try to pill her.

They boys are looking great! I wouldn't really mess with Mandarin either...he's looking pretty good to me at the moment. Poor little Iris! I hope the vet has some ideas. Could the discharge be from the colder weather? Moo has a runny nose often and has never tested positive for a UTI and was born with respiratory issues. How is Flora?

How is Flora?
Better! She still has some soft stool, but it's no longer diarrhea. She has also been extra sweet - here's how I woke up this morning: Flora was hugging my arm.

How adorble. I hope the vet can help and she feels better soon. Nice that both the boys made it to the lagoon.

Pretty sure those girls are staying with you and the boys forever;)
They are at the very top of Mandarin and Walter's Christmas lists... and Mandarin mentioned that they are little enough that we can still stuff them into a Christmas stocking. ;)

I just got back from the vet with ABs for Iris. I will also try the Saline nose drops... still not sure if I can actually get them into her nose, but it's worth a shot. I'll make sure to get some band aids for myself when I buy the nose drops.

Apparently, the boys both decided that it would be fun idea to drop late in the cycle.... and I suspect that there won't be a whole lot of sleep on my agenda for tonight. :nailbiting:

Poor Iris ! But glad she is feeling okay and eating!

Yes, the photos are super cute and I would never get out of bed with a all those snuggle warriors there!
