I should add that the two previous times when I shot in the low 100s, that those were the days he earned his reductions.

I'm delaying a bit to see if I hear from anyone.

Ok, well I think I am just going to shoot the 1.75
reading the shooting low info.
I was too asleep to get a +11 or anything before. Barely could get the AMPS! (I haven't mentioned it but I have been dealing with a bad eye problem for about 2.5 weeks, this is why I am able to be home a lot. But, I also can't see too great t times.)
Also, I screwed up and fed him, but I had to bcuz he was about to eat me. So I don't know if he would be dropping, but I am going to test again right now and them decide.

Hey Julie, not sure I understand did you shoot the 108 or the 127?
I think it was the 127, which was 40min after you gave him brefs.
If that's the case then in the amps box write
108@+12
amps
127@+12.70

That way you can see you stalled and shot 40 min late. also make a note that the amps was food influenced
Definitely get a +1

Just got back from walking my dogs and saw your post, sorry I wasn't around earlier.
I would have advised you to shoot the 108, as long as you could monitor (which you can)
I think there is a good chance that amps is a falling PS, so this cycle may be active (given that he was higher last night at +4 and not dropping dramatically at that point). When the cycle plays out you'll have a better idea)

Sorry about your eye, hope you are not into much discomfort.

OK, done.

What is a "falling PS"?
so this cycle may be active
That is only reason I was stalling. Taffy seems to have a pattern of later onset and then drops. So I wasn't sure if I should stick to the increased dose or go back to the 1.5, I felt like I should have waited to increase. Taffy seems to be a slow "learner" as in he takes longer to adjust to his dose, but then he gets all dramatic on me and dives! I have a feeling that he will be dropping a lot today. But, you are right, since I can stay home, I really did not need to stall.

Sorry about your eye, hope you are not into much discomfort.
My eyes are just worse in the mornings (both). I have some type of allergic dermatitis that I have never dealt with before and my eyes red, swollen, itchy on the lids and underneath. I look terrible! (It's pretty disturbing.) It's uncomfortable, but not really painful. In the mornings, they can be pretty puffy and my vision is a bit blurred. Makes it more difficult to see for testing and such. Doctor again tomorrow, it is getting exasperating!

OK well he's staying just the same.
It's a little bit off because of the timing of the feeding. But also BG is not going up further so probably getting a little bit of overlap.

But what I think I would do, is give him a couple of teaspoons of LC now, so that he has some food on board when he hits onset (usuallly somewhere between +1 and +2), hopefully that will get him to surf, by not waiting till he dives to feed you might be able to slow him down if that's what he is intending, and that in turn may help with the bouncing issue, by getting him to spend longer in low blue and green he may stop reacting so dramatically every time he goes there.

Get a +2 as well. Just lets see what he is intending to do with this cycle, he seem to be playing his cads close to his chest.

He is safe where he is but the LC might help him stay there for longer, if you have higher carb LC like 9% that would be ideal (even MC, it kind of depends how sensitive to carbs Taffy is, George wasn't very sensitive so in this situation with him I would have opted for MC, I found that out through trial and error)
With this +2 I think I would be getting a +2.5.

Have you given him some food? Couple of teaspoons of LC?
Yes. He had a little more LC.

I have to admit that I have not figured out the carb %s on our foods yet...I was feeding raw at Dx, so we have continued, but also added some LC canned. I just don't know the %s on everything. Bad mama. Also, he has been having LC canned for his snacks, as I need to make a raw batch today (ran out at brekkie).

What brand are you using???

+2.5 = 65
Gave another spoonful of LC. If he drops more at +3, I'll give higher carb.
With this being early in he cycle I would be tempted to give him some medium carb 10-14%
Do you have any?
If not and you have HC mix a teaspoon of HC with a teaspoon of LC to give you MC.
he's dropped 20pts in 30min so maybe he needs a little more cab to encourage him to surf.

Yep looks like that helped.

At this stage I think if you gave him a Couple of teaspoons of LC that might encourage the surf and then check in an 45min to an hour just to make sure he is going to surf for you.

Or an other option would be to try without food then you could do that too (in that case I'd go for a check in 45min).

I'm going to try w/out food and see. He was getting less enthusiastic at his last snack, so I don't know if he wants to eat anything right now. Going to shower and then check him again.

George go less enthusiastic about eating when his numbers would turn arround, ie if he was dropping he would sit by his bowl or trot readily to it, but once they started heading back up he was visibly less enthusiastic.
So he may be trying to tell you something.

How's Taffy getting on without any snacks?
Has he surfed??:D:D:D

Oh, I bet it is lovely! I have only been to Barcelona. Always have wanted to go back and see more of Spain.
It' a nice part of the world, spring and autumn are the best times to visit, summer is way toooo hot (temps regularly above 100).
I've never been to Barcelona, though DH and me keep talking about going.
If you find yourself in this neck of the woods we should meet up :)

Sorry, yes! Surfs up!

Could not find the Taffster after my shower. Looking everywhere. He was found in a kitchen cupboard over the frig, snoozing like a baby kitten!
Got a stepladder to get him down and tested.
68 @ +4.75
so according to the ss it was +3.25 when he had the MC, so you want to check that the carbs don't wear off by +5.25 if he is still surfing then you can ease up a little on the testing, giving him a LC snack for his troubles if you want to.

I am using canned and raw also. It is my understanding that 1 oz of raw chicken is about 3 % carbs, turkey about 3.1 and duck 6.0.

The Fancy Feast Classics are low Carb around 4%
The Fancy Feast Roasted are MC carb around 12 %
The Fancy Feast Gravy Lovers are HC 18 % and higher.
Thanks! How do I mark this post for reference? Guess I'll copy it to a word doc.
But, tell me, what are the carbs in just raw??? Do you add a completer mix? do you feed with bone or without? I usually do without bone and add other calcium. Bone seems to really constipate Taffy.

LOL I often tested George where he was sleeping.
But never over the fridge:joyful::p
I have tested a few times while he was resting, too, and didn't know if I could do it up there. But I felt so bad dragging him out again. He is not supposed to be up there (or in the kitchen, and he KNOWS it), and my SO would not be happy about it. But it's an unused cupboard, so I allow it.
Must be about your bedtime...
Thanks for standing by with me!

Gosh darn it!!
What am I going to do with myself! Here we are, Taffy is on a nice surf. And I could swear that I put away Baby's kibble dish before I left the room to clean the litter box. I was sure that I had done it!
Then I come out and see Taffy polishing off the remaining kibbles. I would say that there were <20 kibbles in the dish, probably only about a dozen, but I am so upset with myself! That is going to screw up his numbers now for a whole cycle, probably. Aargh!!!!:facepalm::facepalm::facepalm::banghead::banghead::banghead::banghead::arghh::arghh::arghh::arghh::mad::mad::mad::mad:

Can you get Baby to transition off the dry and onto the same food Taffy is eating?

I know it can be a lot of work to get a kibble addict off the kibble, but it sure would solve a lot of problems....as well as keep Baby a lot healthier!!

If you haven't read it, Dr. Lisa's site has Tips for Transitioning the hard core kibble addict

Yes, that would make everything easier. Even if they did not eat the same exact food, if the kibble was just gone it would be easier...we are trying. I have tried many many times over the years, but with Taffy's FD Dx an Baby's recent panc attack, I have recommitted. He is eating some canned. SOME. Some days he might eat about a 1/4 small can, other days he is not interested. We have tried and are trying again, all of the tips and tricks. He is STUBBORN and picky and fickle. It's ironic, because when he was a kitten, and young adult, I fed him raw. I was a no kibble house and I don't even remember how we got started on the kibbles. My other solution is the YA zero carb kibble, which I am mixing in with his other kibble, little by little. If he would transition to this, at least it would be better for him and I wouldn't be upset if Taffy got some. He also will eat the raw from Taffy's dish if Taffy leaves some (which is rare), but if I give him the same raw food in his own dish and his own food area, he often will reject it. He likes to steal Taffy's! Cats can be such little weirdos, and Baby is ultra weird!

Have you ever tried sprinkling some FortiFlora on Baby's canned food? It's a powder that's the same stuff they spray on kibble to make it so irresistible ....it comes in small packets and I can usually sprinkle just a little on my cats' food when they're being extra picky and they love it.

One packet can last me several days

Yes, we have used it. I'm currently out. I'll get more. Like everything else it is mixed results, though. He will like something for a meal or two and then reject it. But, as I said, I am recommitted.
