^ board I made several days ago~

Hello lovely fdmb :) Fluffy has been hovering as you can see the past few days... Veterans on here, should I increase his dose to 3? Or any other suggestions?

I feel like I've waited 6 cycles past the time I skipped his shot, I hoped that whatever this was would pass but hmm I don't know if it looks like it. Oh Fluffs, you're making this sugar dance so difficult! I'm about to do an AMPS shot in about 10 minutes and his shot 5 minutes after that~

Ugh today is going to be a little rough isn't it! :(

Hope your fur babies surf nicely today though! :bighug:

Edit: Fluffy has also gained just a little bit of weight in the past few days, which I think is good because he was just a little bit underweight. It's also getting colder where I live.

So his AMPS was 325, I gave him 2.75 units :( I'm guessing he'll only go down to the 200s again today, but who knows... I will keep you all updated ~

Are you following TR or SLGS? Under TR if you don't see green today then I think you can increase to 3u tonight but only if you continue getting mid cycle tests. The +2 is very helpful as it can indicate if the cycle might be active.

Hi Karen and Doodles!! :bighug:
For the next week I'll be trying to do SLGS because I have to be at school a lot for finals, and then switch over to TR because I'll be home for about a month during break watching him carefully :) The cycle is definitely active, I just did a +3 and he dropped to 219! I don't know if he'll stay here or go back into the blues and touched almost on the greens as he did that one fateful day on 11/28 :bookworm:

@Gussie's mom
:bighug: hahahah just you watch, right as I head out the door for a few hours he's gonna be swimming in the blues or grazing through those greens, just my luck :blackeye: <3

@Doodles & Karen 7 daaaayssss????? I wished I was able to be home early that day if he went hypo so I didn't have to skip -____- I thought it was just 3 days (6 cycles) before upping his dose but oops I may have read wrong :bookworm: thank you so much Karen and Bobbie for the support!

3 days (6 cycles)
That's on TR. It's one of the main differences between it and SLGS.

Though on TR it does suggest holding the dose for 10cycles when you first start seeing blue, so even on TR I would hold the dose 5 days from that skipped shot you had.

If you are going to be able to test like you have been doing recently, then you are still testing enough to do TR, have you read the stickie on
How to do TR on a full time job. Worth a read, if you don't like the idea of holding on to the dose for 7 days, you might find that you could make it work.

Food for thought??

Ooh okay so I suppose that I should go ahead and do TR then! Thank you so much <3

@Bobbie And Bubba , that's what I'm hoping for so much~ He's already hit the two months mark since this second diagnosis, and I heard it gets much harder after six months... so hopefully by then we'll get the hang of this! Alright in 2 days, if he isn't getting into the greens, I'll be upping his dose to 3 units! ;)

I understand! Bubba lost remission 2 times. We are hoping for a 3rd. The second time was from a bad tooth that needed extracted. He was off the juice again quickly. This time is a bit trickier. But, that said, there are peeps here on the board that have had their kitties in remission 3 times! Fingers and paws crossed!

AWW Bubba I hope you get OTJ x3!!! You guys are pros! <3 What are some of the differences and difficulties you had to face given this is Bubba's third time?

The first time Fluffy was diagnosed, all I did was switch from his crappy dry food, and he immediately went into remission. Now it returned 8 months later and I don't know why :( He was eating a very few dry treats... won't be eating those anymore :/ He also had a slight possible infection in his kidneys but he was given antibiotics so that hopefully cleared up. And he's got a bit of gingivitis, but our vet said it was very mild (Fluffy has had it for a very very long time) and not worth the danger of having to go under anesthesia because of his age and diabetes?

This time, once his pain from gastritis was gone , he just didn't go back to all green numbers like he did last time. We are still hopeful !

Because of Fluffy's age, and FD , ask your vet about perhaps some light sedation or gas for Fluffy to clean his teeth. The inflammation from the gingivitis won't go away with out the removal of tarter and with out that, his numbers could stay elevated But, of course if there is too much risk to do even light sedation, you have no choice. But, it doesn't hurt to explore other options to make the teeth cleaning happen.

Yes please remain hopeful!! Bubba's so lucky to have optimistic and caring beans!! :bighug::bighug:

That sounds like an option I need to explore. Fluffy is incredibly resilient, he's about to turn 17 in a few months, but he's still walking around just fine (he's got some arthritis, I can hear his joints cracking all the time haha) and jumping on couches and not acting like a sick old cat at all! I will definetly bring that back up to his vet when I get the chance. I think I sometime winter break I can discuss with my parents about doing a checkup on Fluffy and seeing where we can go from there. :)
