So I guess we are having a bounce.
AMPS 315
(Took a trip to ER last night for my migraine and checked him when I got back @ PM +8.5 he was 348)
Gave him his brekkie & new reduced dose of 1.75
Started thread, updated SS, set alarm, back to sleep, checking at +2 and we'll see where he wants to go today!
Oh, crap! while I was busy typing this, Taffy stole a bite or two of kibble from Baby Kitty. Little Poophead. I have got to get Baby off of that stuff, it is trouble all around!

Hope your head feels better, a holiday trip to the ER after the day you had was not fun I am sure:bighug::bighug::bighug::bighug: we did that once, my dad darned near accidentally amputated his thumb carving the turkey:eek:
I recall a lot of "I told you so's" in the car but funny, I don't remember the dinner afterwards at all!:joyful::joyful: Thanksgiving ER is an interesting place. :p
Take advantage of the bounce to get some much needed rest and to give Taffys ears a rest too! :cat: You did great yesterday! :bighug::bighug:

He's coming down quite quick 140pts in 2 1/2 hrs.

Steady Taffy no need to be in such a rush to make it to the Lagoon.

Had to run out for a few errands, but came home and got a +10 @ 84

I'll get a +11 too.

Oh, dear...here we go!

+11 @ 62

Going to need some advisement for sure. Also, I had given him a tiny tiny snack right after the +10, which I know is close to PMPS, but I just knew he was still heading down.

Going to do test in 15, food is ready.

I'm slowly trying to get back on track to earlier because with a few recent delays we got to 8:10 as dose time, which is late for Taffy to eat (just ask him). This morning I shot at 8am, so I'm creeping it up a bit. Or, that's the goal.

Taffy sure is a determined cat, that is a pretty big drop for the day. That 43 is pretty close to earning a reduction, although it was probably influenced a bit by the depot which hadn't caught up to the reduction yet. The +11 was a good idea, will let you see better if he is coming back up yet or not. The pmps will help make the decision. It looks like the days you skipped a shot due to low numbers he was pretty high at the end of the cycle. If he were mine, I would think about giving a small dose if he is still in the upper greens, somewhere around .5u, just a little to try to keep the numbers from climbing back too high. If he jumps up into the blues, then it is a little tougher on what the best dose would be.

Do you have plenty of test supplies and carbs for him if needed? And was the coffee a double;).

post his #'s before feeding if you can. I know you want to get back on schedule, but unfortunately, stalling without feeding or shooting and testing again in 30 minutes can help let you know which direction they are headed.

Let's see if anyone else pops in before shot time.

OK, just fyi, we didn't have any 43...??? Was that a typo?
Also, you have to keep it simple with me as I get a little confused with the lingo, reductions, is it one time, etc.???
I'm learning, but I can be dense!
Plenty of supplies, although we have been going thru test strips like gangbusters. But I have 20 or more, picking up more tomorrw.

Sorry the 43 was from yesterday. When a cat gets into the 30's the TR protocol says a reduction is earned. A reduction would be reducing the dose, like you did recently from 2 to 1.75.

It is amazing how fast those strips can go when you are dealing with low numbers. My cat starts eyeing my toes as potential meals when I am late feeding too!

Generally when you stall, you still want to test at the normal shot time, then don't feed or give insulin and test again in 30 minutes. This lets you see if the numbers are rising or falling and how fast they are changing.

The 58 is pretty much the same as the 62. The TR protocol no shoot number is 50 which you are close to. At this point, I would consider either a very small dose or a full skip.

Should I stall the food and test one more time?
Also, should I add some gravy to food?

Don't feed while you are stalling, you need to know what his real BG is that you are shooting..
It will depend on if he's dropping still on what to feed him.
How far off schedule can you be tomorrow?

I don't have a lot of experience with back to back reductions unfortunately, but it looks like Taffy might be ready for one soon. I don't think he is going to climb high enough to give very much if any insulin tonight. Skipping the shot is an option, so is giving a small .25-.5u dose.

It wouldn't hurt anything, and maybe we can get some more eyes on his numbers to offer some advice. I think it is going to be a very small dose if at all tonight.

Also, should I add some gravy to food?
The insulin should be wearing off, I would not give any gravy with his meal. Save that for when he goes low during the middle of a cycle like yesterday.

If I skip again won't we just keep doing this way up and way down stuff, or is that normal? I know, ECID. I'm still understanding the depot and the curves, but maybe a tiny dose would help even him out and not dive so fast and late in cycle??
Well, let me see what his number is in six min.

Let us know, we're trying to figure that out!:)

No cat is normal... they are cats after all. Some cats are like that, Jack did not like skipped shots either, he would shoot up pretty fast too.

but maybe a tiny dose would help even him out
We were thinking the same thing. A small enough dose to keep him safe, but big enough to try to keep him from shooting for the 400's.

20 strips will be enough for tonight, I think you were using the relion meter now so you can always pick up more strips tomorrow.

He's flat not dropping, safe to shoot full dose. IF you can get to Walmart and get more strips. 20 is plenty but I always get nervous with less than 200. And you can stay up to monitor and have HC. Option 2: skip and get back on schedule tomorrow. Option 1, he may earn a reduction and tell you he's done with this dose. Option 2, it may take a few more cycles but I think he'll be telling you the same thing sooner or later.

What do you feel like doing?
