I bought an AlphaTrac 2 meter before I discovered FDMB and before I realized how much testing needed to be done. It seems like the Freestyle test strips are not any cheaper. If I get the ReliOn micro how do I make sense of the numbers in comparison to the AlphaTrac?

And a second question on a different subject - I'm not always accurate yet about where I poke his ear. This am I hit a spot that bled far more than what usually happens. Morris had his first black 500 number this morning. Is this just coincidence and blood is blood or does the meter read differently based on volume of the sample?

You got a lot of blood because you hit the tiny vein that runs along the outer ear just in from the edge. It shouldn't affect the BG reading.

You can't really "compare" them....You just have to remember that on a human meter, dropping below 50 is your "time to act" where on the AT it's when they drop below 68

There's no formula that says "if you get X on a human meter, it equals Y on the Alpha" other than the 50=68

On a human meter, normal numbers are 50-120....On the AT it's 68- about 150
