I am constantly on the hunt for a new food my guys can all eat that is also affordable. I wondered if anyone was familiar with this:

Purina Pro Plan True Nature Adult Natural Chicken & Liver Entree Classic Cat Food

My calculations say that it's less than 3% carbs, but I don't always trust my math. Hoping somebody has some input! Thanks!

Lucy the calculator I use came up safe. I don't remember the number but it was just below 3%. I asked about it some time back but no one responded. Smokey liked it, but the others don't like the liver mix.

Lucy we are working on an update to Dr Lisa's food chart. We have contacted Purina ProPlan but they only gave us a few numbers, not enough to accurately calculate the calories from carbs:banghead: We will keep trying though, and I'll let you know if we get answers.

Thanks for the input, Paula. I may go ahead and give it a try. I don't know whether or not my guys will like the liver mix, but we'll see, just hoping it doesn't give diarrhea to my IBD girl. I thought it seemed like it might be kind of high in phosphorus, that would be a definite drawback.

Thanks, Sharon, 'preciate that! I'm probably going to give it a try and see what happens. Fingers crossed!

Hi Lucy--I feed this as well as the ocean white fish one and the boys like both (rotated of course with 1000 other kinds)
I also feed pro plan focus turkey and giblets urinary tract/adult 11+ (just because Rico likes giblets)
as well as the chicken and liver kitten
and adult 11+ salmon and tuna entree .
none have caused spikes and they like them most of the time, they are very moist.

Thanks, Jayla! I don't suppose you happen to know the carb values on the Focus varieties, do you?

The unitary tract is higher (Rico eats it 13%)
the kitten- chicken /liver 2%
adult 11+ salmon tuna/ 5%
salmon and ocean fish kitten/3%
they like purina one smart blend and I am not positive the carbs I think 2%-- Dre does not spike from it. (ocean whitefish premium pate)

Hello! My Cliff is recently diagnosed and Purina ProPlan true nature Ch&Liv was on the list of OTC that were OK. I bought this and others to try, along with Purina DM and so far my guys really like this! (I hope it really IS ok, as some of the replies make it seem like it might still be under investigation for content.)

Lucy, Have you tried Merrick LID? The Duck is also very low Phos @0.6. Of course Colin prefers the Salmon(which isn't too bad on Phos, 1.1)and the chicken (which is a little high, 1.9).

MiCo, I think it's ok looking at the ingredients. We just can't get Purina to give us specific numbers so we know the exact carb count.

My boy does well on the chic/liv too!

Thanks, Jayla! I bought a few cases of it, so my cats will probably turn their noses up at it, lol!

Thanks, hopefully mine will like it, too!

I did try Merrick for a while, couldn't really seem to get the crew very excited about it. I may have to revisit it, though, especially if they don't like the Pro Plan stuff.

I hope you got a good price. Chewy's is pretty fair. The max cat is about half the price as petco or pet supplies plus.
The max cat duck and venison are 8%
And the turkey / liver is 9%
Rico loves the turkey liver and chicken and the lamb but those get a little higher in carb.
It is kind of strange that Dre only likes the lower carb. Thank goodness !
