Furball was happy & purry this morning. Overall she's feeling good, but she has another ear infection. I was mixing pumpkin in her food to keep her stomach settled with the AB, but she won't eat it any more. She got tired of it. I was thinking maybe some digestive enzymes would help. Does anyone have a recommendation for a good brand? My vet suggested Fortiflora, but I don't want to use it since I think the formula was changed and it makes some cats vomit.

Sending prayers to those in need and those who have lost their furbabies recently. Sending prayers to Elise and her DM.

Animal Essentials Plant enzyme and probiotics dog and cat supplement.
If your looking for just a probiotic Renew Life Ultimate Flora 15 billion is a great one.

Thanks Deb. I bought some Renew Life and Furball won't touch the food with it mixed in.

I have really god luck with Florastor and was able to sprinkle that on their food... but I can't attest to the taste. Luckily, my cats are not particularly picky.

I would advise not to use Fortiflora. Maybe short term but not much more than that and only use a tiny bit at a time. Going to tag @jayla-n-Drevon as she is pretty knowledgeable in the digestive enzymes.
Herbsmith makes micro flora
Is a pro biotic pre biotic enzymes and soothing tummy herbs
Dre get a size 4 gel cap 2x a day.
I sell tons of it at my shop. The vet who makes it is a mix of eastern and western medicine and lectures often. Dr Chris Bessent
She is pretty awesome :bighug:

If Furball won't eat food with supplements in it Carla, have you tried putting them in gelcaps, as Jayla does? I had to do that for my cats. Harvey, especially, wouldn't touch his food if I had put anything in it, even the ones that are supposedly odorless and tasteless. So I put them in gelcaps and pilled him.

I have a full bottle of Florastor I bought for Harvey. I only gave him one capsule before he crossed. I'd be happy to send it to you if you'd like to try it.

Sending vines for that ear infection. I hope Baby is doing okay, too.

I am sorry I was at work and just replied to the tag but I am seeing this for a ear infection.....
As @Tricia Cinco(GA) & Harvey said florastor is very good for this issue-
Forastor is different than a pro biotic-it is good yeast. Fur ball "seems" to maybe have chronic ear issues which are common with yeast.

Food can play a part in that too but florastor with good probiotics can literally heal the gut in as little at 58 days - of course it could take longer but you can literally re-grow the intestinal lining which is pretty cool! (by the way many say culturelle is the same but in my experience it is not)

Florastor may have a "milky" flavor --but again like Tricia said some refuse anything added (including my boys)
I also agree to avoid forti flora--
sending prayers and vines...:bighug::bighug:

Don't have any words of wisdom on the medication problems but I love hearing that Furball is still her happy and purry self!!

Sorry to hear about the ear infection though.....Hopefully you'll find the right combo to take care of the bad bugs as well as the good bugs!!

Maybe plain yogurt with active cultures?
Hi Carla,
I'm sorry that Furball's ear is acting up again. Sending many vines to her. I hope Baby is doing well.

Hugs and scritches,

Ella & Rusty

Thanks everyone for the suggestions and prayers. It sounds like Florastor is what I should try. I have SEB, but I don't have time in the mornings on a work day to give it to her 2 hours before she has to have her AB. I put some of the Ulitmate Flora in a gel cap so I could get something in Furball's system until I can get the Florastor.

I hope Baby is doing well.
She is doing well. Thanks for thinking of her.

Sorry that Furball has another ear infection. I put the Florastor right in Bubba's food and he eats it. There is Jarrow brand which is much cheaper but MOS is added to it and I understand it is bitter and cats wont eat their food with it mixed in so a gel cap would be necessary.

I give mine the Renew and haven't had a problem with it. Did you try starting small with the amount and working up? We open the capsules and just put a tiny bit in at first, mixing it with the food. I wonder if she would accept it that way.

Here is that link on probiotics in kitties - maybe there are other ideas in there that would be helpful.
