Help with Food choice..

Hi all, my cat Socks is currently on the very high carb, Hills M/D, as he had a recent battle with DKA and Pancreatitis. I'm looking to figure out what food to put him on.. I've been recommended to try Purina ProPlan True Nature Classics.. Also have been recommended Hounds and Gatos, Weruva, and Dave's. Anyone have any experience or information on any of those (or any additional recommendation would be appreciated too!)

I'm no expert, and I'm sure there will be more answers with more information for you....but, if you go to the forum labeled FAQs there is a posting about diets that gives you nutritional breakdowns on many canned foods. I think there is some work being done to update the lists too. I feed my babies Fancy Feast, 9 Lives, Purina, Weruva and Evo...all wet foods. I am amazed at the improvement in BGs just by eliminating the dry kibble. Good luck

Just a side note, my cat was on Hills M/D for 1 week and developed pancreatitis. Maybe it's related?

Have you tried the Pro Plan True Nature yet? I just bought a couple of cases f it for my crew so I'm hoping they'll like it!

I looked into ProPlan and it was just very expensive for my budget as i have 2 kitties at home (one is non-dm, used to be fat-cat) but i have him on low carb food since Socks was diagnosed (and he's down from 20lbs to 16lbs!) BUT i ended up going with Dave's 95%, for affordability AND i was able to see for myself with Socks numbers that it is truly low carb. He is on almost as low of a dose as when he was first diagnosed (1.25u BID) !!!

I was timid to try Daves and my cats are a little picky, but Dave's really did a great job with taste because my boys love all the 95% flavors. Thanks for the feedback all!

Whiskey's doing well on Fancy Feast classic, Natural Balance, Purina DM (wet only) and little human snacks here and there--cooked chicken or beef, scrambled egg.

I also just bought a bag of Bonito Flakes, and my little guy is loving them!! And doesn't seem to be effecting his sugar at all.

Mine think it is a gift from the Gods.... it just stinks so bad and it is all over the house

lol too funny! I was just curious but haven't found any information on whether its not good to give kitty every day due to the issues with fish-based foods/mercury/etc...

I am not sure about how good it is for them but I am pretty sure my health would be in jeopardy if they didn't get it
