Good morning..oops it's afternoon EST now...hope all had good night and with a smooth sailing day ahead :bighug::bighug:
And again thank you all for your continuing love, support and prayers for us all. And humor! :bighug::):bighug:

Sootie's doing the iffy iffy appy again. Maybe she thinks I should turn my kitchen duties over to her (hey, if she'll also do the dishes, I'm all for it!).
Her bg 147  this morning but yikes her +4  at 175. Again so sign that she after the tsp or 2 of breakfast. I don't dare tx even a droplet...iffy appy and her trend (?) to lower bg's after she's eaten a decent amount of fud. Her recheck at vet is later this afternoon.

Was going to retest Sootie last night but I conked out.

Azalea and Bo hanging in, each in their own inimitable ways. Bo having some difficulties today but not like it was Friday night. am watchful of each change, mindful and in respect for our pact with each other. Now more than ever I do feel from him that he is now more fully ok with moving from body to Spirit. And that allows me to feel ok about the choices to be made. ❤️

Thank you, we feel 'em here!

Just home From bringing Sootie to vet this afternoon. Her abdomen sensitive to touch, was squirmy being picked up this morning and afternoon. Cystocentisis showed leukocytes at 3+, neg for blood, ketones, glucose etc. He says resume the orbax and uromaxx.
Her bg at +4 noontime 175 (she did eat a little after bg), but at +9 at the vet's was 124 on his Contour Meyer, 119 on my Contour Next. Go figure!
Honey, a huge blonde house cat, took an interest in Sootie's carrier while I was holding Sootie we were waiting for results. Suddenly Honey became a squatter in Sootie's carrier. Shoulda seen the look on Sootie's face til Honey was extracated by one of the techs!...o_O:(:(o_O

We're hanging in here, thanks to you all and healing energy all around. Hugs and vines all around for peaceful gentle night for all :bighug::bighug::bighug:

I looked up maltodextrin - it is a sugar and the site I found says 3.81 carbs per teaspoon. That would seem like low carb, but the fact that it's a sugar would make me suspicious. Some kitties are extremely sensitive to carbohydrates - just depends on the cat. You might try eliminating the maltodextrin supplement and testing afterwards to see what happens. There are plenty (most?) probiotics that don't include sugar, so it would be easy to find something that definitely wouldn't raise her BGs.

The difference in your vet's glucometer and yours is typical. Actually that's extremely close. By law, glucometers are allowed a 20% variance, which would mean a blood sugar of 120 could measure as 96 or 144 from the same drop. For our purposes, our home glucometers are giving a ballpark - both so that you can keep them safe from a hypo (that 20% is smaller in low numbers) and to know how to adjust the dose.

Tagging is fine - they just don't always work. Definitely the best way to get help is to put something in your subject line so that whoever is experienced in that area will see you need help and come post. Even just putting "need help" will work. Or something like "dosing advice; should I shoot? IBD problems?" etc will get the right people to you.

Flax powder - I use an extremely small amount. Like 10-20 little freckles on their food.

her bg 'normal' ranges are more even if she eats more and if she has mini meals three maybe 4 times a day spaced out during 24 hour period.

I would try giving a small amount of food every 3-4 hours - it minimizes work on a healing pancreas, the small meals also stimulate the pancreas to put out a little insulin, bringing down blood sugar about 3 ish hours later.

Sending happy appy vines Sootie's way!
