Hi all, my cat Socks has surely had a rollercoaster of health these last few weeks, let alone these last few days with his BG readings... I had a really nice curve on Saturday as shown in my spread sheet, but even the next day his BGs were much higher than the curve day...
I also had some crazy numbers after Socks vet visit on Monday morning. The reason I'm posting this as I got a PMPS reading last night of 614!!!!!!!
I tried to figure out any variables... nothing changed with his schedule at all, no food was known to be left out/on the floor, nothing changed with poops... So I was suggested that he may be bouncing - so last night I was beyond worried so followed advice of other members - and reduced his insulin from 2u to 1.5u. I was happy to see that even at 614, with 1.5u, (and a 1/4 less food than usual) I was able to get him down to 398 (or so) by 6+ and he was 280 (or so) by AMPS this morning! Glad to see him at a safer range - and so I've kept him at 1.5u today ALONG with feeding him more with his shot. I am now giving 1.5u w/ 1 can of food every 12 hours. Before, I was giving 2u with 3/4 can, then the other 1/4 can at 6+ to help with his IBS, but it seems like it doesnt make it better or worse so im going to try again giving his whole can of food (especially to avoid crashing)
But has anyone ever seen a rebound/bounce that high (614)?
I can't help but feel there must be other variables with this high sugar reading... My fiance is worried about the consistency of carbs in each can, and worried some cans may be much higher than others (but we always buy cases so it would be a can-to-can issue). Luckily Socks is still testing negative for ketones, but last night when he was that high, his respiratory rate was very fast, at about 34/min until about 1 hour after the shot... not dangerously fast but I just wish I could know whats going on with him to prevent him from getting SOOOO high...
