PMPS is (FS) 20.1 or about (AT) 18.7. I'm increasing very slightly to 2.35 u (skinny 2.4 u) tonight. Will test before bed.

Two tests last night after PM shot: (AT) 15.1 at +4 and (AT) 8.6 at +7. Then AMPS today: (FS) 6.8!!!! I retested immediately with a second FS strip (they were the ones close at hand) and got another 6.8. This would be about (AT) 6.3. So no shot this morning because there's no way he'll go up enough in the next hour or more.
Analysis:
1. The string of pinks since the PM on 10/16 were likely bounce numbers rather than dose too low numbers.
2. A third overnight test last night at +9 or so would have shown me he was still heading down. However, I'm not thinking too clearly after a 2:30 a.m. alarm wakeup and wouldn't have expected a nadir after +7.
3. He might have needed another cycle to clear yesterday's bounce (if I'm right about it) before tweaking his dose.
4. Bounce or not, I know he gets stuck in pinks easily and that's a complication I have to work around.

It is great the way you can analyze his particular patterns. And it is amazing how just a little tweak of insulin changes things. I wonder if the new vial took a cycle to tweak his numbers up a bit, too. Frustrating that there are so many aspects to this dance, and so hard to know which is operating at any given moment. You two are a great team!

As always your analysis looks spot on to me! I think those were bounce numbers you saw.

Trust me, I wouldn't be thinking clearly at 2:30 AM either!!!

My first black - ick! BG is (AT) 27.7 at +7. Looks like lack of insulin this AM combined with bounce to go this high.

Well it's not surprising because Teasel didn't want the juice this morning ;) maybe he will come down later today like Terry does sometimes! If not just go on with what you're doing! You're doing so great! And I love how you are analyzing everything! :bighug:

PMPS is 1 h early because of NS this AM and was (FS) 25.3, around (AT) 23. I'll give 2.2 u tonight to be safe - new insulin vial, low BG this AM, etc. Will test before bed.

BG at +8 was (FS) 21.8 or about (AT) 20.2. That's an awful bounce!! AMPS was (AT) 26.2. That was +13 since his earlier dose last night.

I need a new "baseline" with this new vial of insulin because it sure looks like it's a bit more potent. The last vial was properly stored and handled but after 2 months seems to have lost a little oomph based on Teasel's BGs at the end of it compared to what's been happening since I opened this new one. There's also the different injection site in play. So complicated ... My plan is to give him 2.0 u this morning to see what happens. I can always increase later.

I went back in my SS and inserted a row signifying when I started the previous vial of ProZinc (Aug. 16/16). It's good info to have going forward. By then I'd been giving 3.6 u blindly for 3 weeks. The numbers look good but it was that scary AMPS of 6.9 on 08/17 that brought me here. I'd also woken up to urine puddles just outside the litter box several times in that three weeks which I've since guessed was related to overnight near hypos. I was lucky that something worse didn't happen.

Since then Teasel's numbers have been chaotic but we are making progress and, most of all, I've kept him safe. :)

+3 is (AT) 19.2. Pink at +3 is common for him as seen on SS. I'm doing an every-3-hour mini curve today to get baseline data at this (likely too low) dose with this new vial of insulin. Also testing FS strips against ATs so I know the approximate % difference in how they read wrt a newly opened container of AT strips.

AMPS was (FS) 26.6 or about (AT) 24.8. Will give 2.10 u this morning. Thanks for the above ladies! Yes, Sue, you're right. His dose has to be higher and it's easy for me to be too careful, given his jittery responses.

BG at +6 is 21.4. For sure not a fur shot. It's either a new bounce, remnants of the last bounce or he's stuck on the ceiling of resistance. Will persevere ...
